I feel a little bit sorry for Claude, but the fact that he’s not just admitted he said something bad in the heat of the moment grates a bit. Far worse though is the overall management and publicity of AFTV, covering their arses all the time whilst promoting people who say far worse things and probably should be protected themselves from certain mental weaknesses. It’s like a Victorian circus.

Now kicked off of AFTV for a stupid throw away comment in the heat of the moment that any one of us could easily make and probably have made in the past.

I just don't like the Orwellian nature of where we are headed with this cancel culture, its dangerous.

I'm in some agreement. The biggest mistake for sure was doubling down and pretending it was some kind of reference to making a DVD of these big derby wins - the phrasing and timing simply didn't back that up and I'm astonished nobody in their HQ pointed that out.

I believe there are an awful lot of people primed to throw tomatoes at AFTV given any possible opportunity because they're A) generally loathsome and B) if you were a Woolwich fan you'd probably find them to be incredibly embarrassing and would rather they didn't exist.

We've seen similar tactics used here that we've often seen the mob utilise on social media: go after the sponsors, put financial pressure on.

Ultimately, Claude is bang to rights and should have simply apologised (though we don't know how the mob would then have reacted to that). Most of us on here know he's usually the most reasonable talking head they have and hasn't exhibited any signs of being a racist previously. It's interesting that within the same video there was awful race-baiting nonsense from Troopz trying to paint the referee as being racist in favour of the white Harry Kane - but of course that isn't an offence in the eyes of social media.

You're right on this kind of mob justice as a whole though because there are plenty of instances where people are being un-personed for basically nothing, or even just perceived slights.
