I've just had a quick look on Arsenalmania to see what their take is on Arteta and it surprised me. A lot of them are Arteta out. They think they will never win anything under him as he's too much of a coward. They say there are absolutely no excuses as they have what is universally regarded as the strongest squad in the league and they are already 5 points behind Liverpool due to Arteta's lack of bollocks.

Apparently their record with Merino and Rice starting in midfield is shit.

Yet Arteta still persists with it.

There is absolutely no doubt Arteta is too much of a defensive minded, cautious manager.

It’s team balance and I know they have Zubermendi but the dynamism the rapist gave Woolwich isn’t easy to replicate. He offered Arteta a player who could dominate physically but had a passing range where he could get the ball quickly into the front players or carry the ball quickly forward. The rapist was an elite 6. He connected back to front really well. Rice and Zubermendi looked awkward yesterday.

Hate to say it but your right, when he was fit Partey was an elite player. He fucking retired Hojbjerg for me in one NLD. Not sure what the balance is with Rice and Zubermendi.

Seeing them already question Gyokeres. Maybe he ain’t good enough but he is a player that plays best in fast transition something Arteta doesn’t do much. Liverpool signed the Woolwich forward they needed in Ekiteke.

Out of all the forwards this summer Isak excluded Ekiteke might be the clear winner, just a really good all round player. Sesko and Gyokeres yet to show up when it matters, the Newcastle new German forward looks ok but hard to tell.

Apparently they're putting towels on the touchline for home games. They're definitely turning into Stoke. Legohead just needs to wear a cap now.
He already does.

really strange signing that one

Not really, people have been jizzing over him for 2 years now - though I've never understood why -

Even for Coventry, his stats were pumped by big numbers against teams in the bottom half of the championship - then went to prove himself in Portugal where there are like 3 decent teams.

Flat track bully, will score goals, but ultimately, not the striker they need to get them over the line to any kind of trophy.

There's a clear reason why no one went for him tbh.

As for Woolwich, they don't appear to have a scouting department at all. They seem to buy players in the same way that people who don't really follow football would identify them. "That guy liverpool wanted", "That guy who plays for chelsea" etc.
No obvious strategy that I can see - every signing seems to be independent of one another, instead of having some kind of theme.
