Sort of reminds me of AVB there.

Crazily he played a high line with Cuntface Terry in it. And then wondered why they got battered 3-5 by the Goons at Slumford.

Poch playing a back 4 with Silva. How old is he? How slow? That "defence" has leaked 4 goals in consecutive matches for the first time this century or whatever.

Like I said, Poch's strong point is most definitely NOT tactics. Juventus anyone? Schooled in 5 mins from 1-0 to 1-2 and no subs till too late.

Thankfully they fired Potter without giving him the season. Whatever you think about him, he is a very clever tactician. Previous players of his have said that he was able to change tactics several times in the same match, and that the players were all on board with it, they all understood it, they all knew what they had to do different, and they implemented it.

Edit - AVB fired when they dropped 3pts behind Goons in 4th.
Poch is 11th and NO chance of making PL this season.

I think he realised those issues - that's why he started the season playing a back 5 with quicker players around Thiago Silva.

But added to that they don't have a reliable goalscorer, so just shoring up defence isn't enough to get results.

In short their squad / team is shit.

I agree, he needs a reset and to go back to what put him on the map in the first place.

The question is whether his ego will allow him to do that.

I may be reading his situation wrong, but I feel he started believing his own hype, after those 2 fantastic, but ultimately fruitless, seasons with us. He then took on PSG and won the league in his first full season. He'll likely have seen himself as "elite" by winning a title, but no one else in Football, outside France, really sees that as a major honour when PSG spent more than the rest of the league put together.

It will be interesting to see whether he sees himself as failing at Chelsea or, when he ultimately gets the tin tack, he blames everyone else but himself. If he convinces himself that he was set up to fail, then he'll still see himself as elite. If he's honest with himself, he'll recognise he's not in that elite bracket, and will look to rebuild his reputation.

I may be doing him a disservice, but I really don't see him doing the latter.

Just heard on Spurs Show podcast that commercial guy Todd Kline has been poached by Chelsea.

What an absolute shit show that club is. Kline had one job, to get us naming rights and failed at that. And it's him that Chelsea decide to poach

And it would only be natural let's face it:

Espanyol - massively over-achieved with his best players sold year on year;
Saints - massively over-achieved with a team after 2 promotions in 3 seasons;
Spurs - 2 fabulous seasons on the cheap, highest league placing since the 1960's.

Several at MUFC desperate to get him there. The biggest club in the world? Pretty much.

Would be hard not to let all that get into your head.

Last season was a shite-show tactically, though.

CL run papered over a lot of nonsense.

Good window, solid squad now for all comps (barring a proper RB).

He's developed an unpleasant habit of hobbling himself with shape and selections.

Will be much more at ease once I'm confident he's not gonna be bone-headed and accepts and accommodates limits of our flank play.

0-2 up away you could go 4411 and control and counter.

Not rocket science.

Clear for a good while that, tactically, there are no more levels to Poch.

Pretty one dimentional.

And if he's not able to motivate the team to play for their lives, we go into games considerably deficient.

First half against Palace should be our base level every time we set foot on a pitch.

It's all there.

The squad needed rebuilding, but poch became stale and stubborn and showed he was, tactically, very limited.

He needed to go off and mature and develop and come back in a few years time.

Show me and everyone else where I've even suggested it...in fact, my 'support' of him at Chelsea was based on them having a young and eager squad ready to run for him just like when he was here...a tacit admission (though you'll find it more explicitly made elsewhere) that his main attribute is getting players to give their all for him. What's that's point got to do with anything suggesting tactical abilities? You're right, nothing.

In fact, I have the same opinion of Klopp...more psychologist and PE teacher than tactical genius. You're arguing with yourself about his tactical abilities because I've never backed them...in fact, I've got clear proof back as far as 2016 of my disappointment with that. But that doesn't mean he wasn't good for us.
