Player Conor Gallagher

£40M for Gallagher is a scam.

ENIC & Lange showing zero ambition by signing Gallagher
I said this before we signed him.

I dont think he is a bad player, but he certainly has shown he isnt what we needed currently. A workhorse, but what we needed was some creativity in the midfield, particularly with Bergvall, Madders and Kulu out.

Simons has proven unreliable and physically weak in the PL.

Selling Brennan and purchasing Gallagher is just stupid as well.

It really proves that the people in charge just don't have a clue. No manager can succeed unless the backroom boys are doing their job.

We have tried pretty much every kind of manager now. Its become evident to all of us now, even a long time ago that this is an issue deep rooted into the club by ENIC and their yes men.

When youre giving Conte Djed Spence, Mourinho, Doherty and Hojberg, Ange, Gray, Odobert and £60M Solanke, that tells us all.

£40m fee and £200k is very much massive money - I have no clue what you think massive money is but that’s a substantial expenditure.

And if we get relegated I’d go ahead and say he will, above all else, represent the failure of the season.
You said "massive fee + wages" though?
Failure of the season is very different to being one of our worst ever signings and yeah, while his wages are high, 40m doesn't get you very much at all these days - It didn't even get us a Brennan Johnson.
In all honesty, when you look at the top six clubs and a daft as it sounds to say, even 200k isn't massive money these days.

I don't think Gallagher was the right player to raise our wage budget on but really, we can't cry out for the club to increase the wage structure and then complain when they do.

Not hyperbole but he won’t stand out in the championship. There’s gallaghers everywhere in the championship. Players that work hard but a bit one paced and basic. If there was that choice him over Lookman will come back to bite us hard.

Who could’ve seen him being wank coming.

Oh yeah. Nearly everyone.

200 fucking grand a week. At least if we go down he only gets that for a season I guess. Wonder which bottom half club will be taking him on loan.
You say nearly everyone but take a look at the start of this thread plenty thought it was a great signing. Unbelievable how many people can watch football all their lives and have no clue about what they're watching

Even worse are the muppets who have worked in football all their life, are being paid by us, and still have no fucking clue

That is massive money! Wages count too.

I had no clue what you think he’s done to prove any quality or worth to you. He has contributed fuck all his entire Spurs career. Why are you sticking up for him so much when he’s done absolutely nothing to deserve it? He’s not even better than anyone we currently have in his position.

He didn’t even make it into the team in a must win game. We spent £40m and broke our wage structure for a player who was meant to turn the season around. Instead he can’t even get into the team and when he does play is the definition of average FFS. How are you not understanding this????

He was the wrong purchase for us in that moment and doesn’t look match fit to me, but Poch had him as his captain and he was a good player at chavs and Palace.

He’ll be a decent central midfield engine with the right players around him, but was not the right player to buy in January when you’re desperately looking for some creativity.

Wow, it almost as though you're not actually reading what I've said over the past couple of pages!

Because you’ve not made a single case for anything Gallagher has done well. Because he has done fuck all.
That's because I've not defended his signing, I just said that £40m isn't a massive fee these days, and nor is £200k wages for a club of our income.

I don't think he's a bad player and we've certainly not seen the best of him but it's hard to shine when the whole team are playing so badly.
I've also said that I don't think he's better than what we've already got in his position, that Gray and Bergvall have higher ceilings than him, if they are not already better players.

So in part I've been agreeing with much of what you say, I just disagree that his fee and wages are "massive" because they really aren't if we actually want to be a competitive club.

Our "star" players, if we ever get any, should be on wages north of £300k if we want to be able to compete in both the league and the transfer market, otherwise we'll always be buying players who aren't quite good enough because the good players demand that sort of wage and other clubs will pay it.

Wonder if they put a relegation clause in his contract? Would anyone be surprised if they didn’t? Could see us having to loan him out if we go down to the championship and paying some of his wages. who’s going to buy him on that money if we didn’t put a clause in there.

I’ll try to be nice to them & say that I think a majority were just being optimistic for the sake of it and doing the whole “he’s here now let’s back him” and making arguments to suit that.

Deep down I think most were very apprehensive at the least about this one. He wasn’t rated by most of the place before he went to Atletico.

Tbh I’d be happy right now (but pissed off af the absurdity of the situation) to take £5m in the summer just to get him off the books permanently.
