Player Conor Gallagher

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Credit where credit's due - he's shown passion, enthusiasm, fight, heart and probably something else too, when we've needed it. I like him.

Swapping BJ for him was a good bit of business. BJ probably be getting relegated next year now.

Getting Gallagjer was necessary, even if he was below expectation for a few weeks after he arrived

Selling Johnson, a goalscorer for us, whatever his other limitations, and not buying a player to score goals was shocking, and we just about got away with it, because our midfield got the goals to keep us up.

Johnson will probably have another medal in his trophy cabinet on Thursday morning. Thereafter who knows.

Gallagher isn’t compatible with RDZ style of play in the long run. That’s a red flag if so.

Is that really true? RDZ's style is not hugely different from Postecoglou's and we were chasing Gallagher for years for that system.

What was weird was we finally bought him for Frank - where he just joined a lot of other samey 8's running around doing not much.

Well he’s one of the first 3 players that RDZ name checked as having the character to be part of the next team. He name checked him along with Palhinha and Bentancur.

We know from his time at Chelsea and Palace that Gallagher is a useful player at this level. For sure he will be part of the squad next season.

The issue isn’t Gallagher in the same way the issue isn’t Palhinha. Do we need more technical attackers, yes, do we need a deep lying playmaker, yes. However even when we get them Palhinha and Gallagher are still useful. We have others to sell.

It reminds me of the Odobert debate, that kid is a great talent but still raw. When Son left we should have bought an elite wing forward and also bought Odobert as his apprentice. Instead we just bought Odobert who was never going to fill such big shoes.

Club needs two good players per position.

Gallagher really stepped up the past few weeks, just like Palhinha. Without the 2 of them we'd 100% be relegated. Gallagher set the tone early yesterday. Pressed aggressively and played direct in the first 10 minutes. He did the same against Villa. Palhinha won us the game yesterday and against Wolves.

Are they ideal players if we want to get back to dominating teams and making top 4? I think Gallagher can work in a deeper role and the option of playing him in the 10 in tougher games is huge. He's a big player for us now and he'll play plenty of games next season under RDZ. Palhinha? I'm not sure. He's a cult hero now and a fans favourite but I don't see us becoming a top team with him playing in the midfield every week as he's too limited on the ball.

The 2 of them are proper dual winners and we needed them to get out of relegation. I'll forever be grateful. Gallagher's future for us under RDZ will be if he can function as a more box to box 8 and can progressively build up play. I think he's too limited to be our number 10 (Maddison, Kulusvski and Simons all far mor creative). Gallagher's future will be in a deeper role so lets see if he can build on that.

It's clear RDZ likes those two for their off the pitch impact as much as on it. They are proper professionals who leave it all on the pitch. That should be the bare minimum but somehow the standards were allowed to fall to the gutter.

The emergence of the Bentancur/Palhinha/Gallagher midfield trio is what ultimately saved us. Proper experienced professionals who will not be bullied.

Gray/Bergvall are not ready yet. Sarr is not good enough and Biss couldn't give two fucks.

Yup I agree but that midfield was a short term approach to avoid relegation. Bentancur the anchor and the other 2 played as aggressive ball winners. It was a relegation battling midfield.

I don't think RDZ will want to be going into next season with that as our midfield. He'll want Maddison in the 10 and he'll want a new 6 who can be a progressive ball playing player. I think he might be happy to try Gallagher in a deeper role and maybe he'll still use Bentancur as that ball playing anchor. But I don't really see where Palhinha fits in next year.

Its a tricky one because Palhinha has been one of our most important players the last few weeks and we'd have been relegated without him. But if RDZ is as ruthless as I think he is, then he will go back on his word and not make that loan permanent. I think he'll want another ball playing midfielder - maybe someone like Alex Scott or Wharton if we are willing to break the bank!
