Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Anyone remember that monstrous tackle last season (Think it was against Leicester) where he went through a player, got the ball, and we ended up scoring from it? That's what you get with a player like him.

He done the same at the weekend against City. Brilliant interception that set us up on the counter where Perisic flashed it across the goal just infront of Kane.

Romero and many of his Argentinian teammates are still celebrating winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and rightly so. They were outstanding and deservedly won the competition.

The Albiceleste have a few friendlies coming up, and even though the games don’t matter much, Romero wants to be involved with his national team.

An account called SudAnalytics on Twitter posted a quote supposedly from Romero about the upcoming international friendlies. It reads: “If Tottenham tell me to stay? I already left once, I would leave again.”

A Spurs fan took that the wrong way and responded to the tweet by saying: “Leave Tottenham permanently then if you think you’re above us @CutiRomero2.”

Romero was far from happy and hit back at the supporter. He tweeted: “Hahaha, I feel sorry for you. Find out more before talking stupid things.”

Of all the nothings that were never something, this is most nothing that was never something.

Hey, are we all still really high on this player's bull in a china shop routine? Did his red card actually affect us now? Are we still gonna cheer his stupidity going forward? Can't wait for his next bit of unnecessary roughness for half the board to wank themselves silly. But context shows they may hurt us...unless folks love seeing Tanganga Dier and Davies again. Good times.

If he was simply too aggressive, picking up excess cards and missing some games, that would be one thing. But he's also much more interested in playing for Argentina than Tottenham. These are not the traits of a defender that we should be looking to anchor a defense. For me Romero can be a great complement to a rock CB in defense, but is not the type of personality you can build a team around.

His dumb 1st or 2nd yellow (your choice) vs City absolutely hurt us vs Leicester. And in the end, we only ended up taking 3 of the 6 points we expected to take anyways (aka no improvement).

Obviously he has great talent and I hope he comes good, but, it feels more like he's going to demand a move as soon as the next bigger club comes asking. And we'd probably be well-served to sell for as sky-high a price as possible.

Him being on the pitch elevates the rest of the defence. I think that is beyond obvious now. He needs to sort out the disciplinary side because we need him playing every game between now and the end of the season. He is probably our most important player left not injured

Our CBs.

But sure, let's become a selling-club again.

Selling your best players make you a selling club.
This is a foolish mindset borne of the days before Bosman when players were essentially chattel. Everyone is a selling club as a healthy club needs decent flux, better players with more potential in and shit players out. We are not the apex predator in this wilderness so we are a selling club...if we are smart.

We've kept all the dross from the Poch years and how's that going for us? You can't rebuild while keeping all the shit. All players at all times should be available. The times they are a changin...

Brighton are a selling club.

You can argue it’s good for them,

We used to be them with players like Bale, Modric, Berbatov…

Would any Spurs be happy going back to that and flipping Romero, Bentancur, and Kulu for profit in the next 2 seasons?

For sure we could do better selling players but you want keep your best players

We kept the dross , which is the problem. Selling our worst players is what we need to do. Selling our only decent CB would be suicidal.
