If AM are only willing to pay peanuts we are then reliant on Real coming in. I get the feeling Romero stays but runs down his contract.

So, if Romero decides to leave for a top club he's simply doing what every top quality Spurs player (in the EPL) have done before him - like Klinsmann, Carrick, Modric, Berbatov, Bale and Kane.
He is replaceable, though, but Spurs should demand £60m+ for him.

You can’t sell to a club unless Cristian agrees to go to that club.

As we’ve seen with Trent, if the players determined to run the contract down there’s not a lot you can do.
It’s not without risks though should they get a really bad injury in their final year.
Has he got 1 or 2 years left?
