Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Those clips show just how fast the game is which cameras hide.

The main take from this is VDV position.

Bentacour should have bust a gut to make an angle for a pass.
Instead he ends up standing directly behind a PSG player. Lack of awareness really from Bentacour.
No idea why VDV is on the wing either.

And a pass to Gray was never on. That would have been intercepted 100% at that distance between him and Romero.
He's aware alright he's just hiding. He does this.

Spot on. I firmly believe him to be a liability. He'll have another game where he bullies that coward Haaland and the easily fooled will be telling you he's the greatest again, he isn't. Centerback is about consistent marking, blocking, reading the game, its not judged on line breaking passes or running the whole pitch and scoring worldies. Some nut said was better than King after the EL hes not even on the same continent, he isnt as good as either Toby or Jan. That PSG goal is all on him he just acts in slow motion and then( and he does this ALOT ) gives you a hospital pass.

These too have dried up recently, haven't they. His passing is not the same it was 1,5 years ago.

VDV is a better player yes.

On form Romero is very good at passing and heading (defensively and offensive). But makes too many mistakes. And is overrated.

I disagree on heading.
I have seen him totally misread the flight of a cross for so-so many times.

I'd change the defensing heading ability to on-the-ground tackles. He can dispossess opposition with strong challenges that do pull them out of their comfort zones. Which absolutely can be and is an asset. But that should be coupled with consistent defending too...

The club don't have anyone that is obviously captain material, there are no leaders, there is nobody setting examples or busting a gut.

Seems like they decided to make Romero captain because they wanted to convince him to stay at the club, so bumped up his salary and gave him that role.

and I don't think you appreciate how much time Romero had.

I quote you.
“When he did turn inside though he had the option of a pass out to the left - Archie Gray was completely open in the left back position. He then dithered for a second or 2,”

From the time he received the ball facing his own goal to the time it left his foot to Sarr you can see the time stamp showing 2 seconds has elapsed.

So you saying he dithered for 2 seconds tells me you have no idea the speed they are playing at.
Which is understandable.
Vast majority of people I speak to have never been professional footballers, definitely not elite ones, don’t coach professional footballers and have never been to any top level training sessions.

The speed they play at is just a different level. First time I went to a premier league training session I was blown away by the speed.

Tv cameras (especially high up views) just slow it down as our brain processes the information differently.

But here 58.40 Romero has turned to face away from his goal, and any decent coach is going to tell you not to try to make that pass to Gray. You really don’t think number 8? can intercept it???

And finally just watch the actual video and look at Archie gray.
He doesn’t make any type of movement to say give me the ball or adjust his body position because it’s never on. He’s pretty static tbh.
