Player Dane Scarlett

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There is something there.
Think a top sports psychologist might be able to help. He needs to take his International mindset back to his club game.

The way Kane, Mourinho spoke of him, plus his youth pedigree, gives me no doubt he has it within him. His Pompey loan started really well, then he seemed to hit the 6week wall (many youth suffer), just never quite bounced back since.

I had a chat with a bloke who is a coach about him today. And he had teams play against Dane at youth level. He said we need to give him time because he is a pure striker. That he has learned well from Kane and just needs to put what he has together. He said he felt Dane really ONLY wants to play for Spurs and has get that he has to do the work on loan before he gets that real chance. Dunno but good luck to him because Kane genuinely believes he has it.

Same as in the Donley thread, even though these lads have incredible CVs and obvious talent the "he'll never make it" brigade can't wait to pile on

The problem (well, a problem) is that people see the odd player break out at 18 and never look back and thus expect that to be the curve for all young players.... Yet some may not grow into their adulthood (both on and off the pitch) until much later; so much so that depending on position even 21, 22, 23 is still relatively young.

It's not a linear path & process.... Even the notion of "make it" (or not) itself is fairly loose.

Mega-star.
Regular starter.
EPL worthy back-up.
HG squad player.
Sold for a decent fee.

....All/any of these things are to be considered a success in terms of the academy and our development program.
