Player Dane Scarlett

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think the club need to be more tapped in to 'moments' it's a real thing in sport. The zone or whatever you call it, recognise when it suddenly becomes accessible and play the player. Back them. Because Dane for one is giving off signs he might well be everything Harry and Jose said.

Why do you want to play Spence up front?

Meant Scarlett obvs

I'd start him against City to be honest. Kid looks like he's going to be a v.good player and sometimes throwing them in against hard opposition is the making of them.

Not writing Tel off btw and he looks decent but i cant say he looks like a far better talent than Scarlett from what i've seen.

Yeah why not.

Seems like the type of kid who has an appetite for big moments and big games to me.

We've been quite bad at seizing the moment that way in the last few years.

Kane certainly took his chance and made himself undroppable. Winks kinda did before he was injured and managed to make it to regular squad player at least. And Jose was smart enough to send Skipp out on loan so he'd get the experience needed even if he himself was not around once Skipp came back.

But we fumbled both Walker-Peters, CCV and Tanganga.

Jose Mourinho claims Spurs youngster ‘is going to be phenomenal’

Jose Mourinho has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘phenomenal’ youngster on their hands in Dane Scarlett if everything goes well over the next few years.

Writing in his column for The Times, while talking about England’s chances at future tournaments, Mourinho claimed that the future is bright for Scarlett.

While The Special One admitted that the World Cup next year would likely come too early for the teenager, he predicted big things for the youngster.

Mourinho previously revealed that he wanted to be the one to give Scarlett his debut at Spurs because he believes the youngster will ‘be somebody’ in the future.

The striker became Tottenham’s youngest-ever Premier League player when coming off the bench against West Brom at 16 years and 320 days last season.

Mourinho said: “I know he’s still very young, just 17, and it is probably too early for the next World Cup, but Tottenham Hotspur have a striker in Dane Scarlett, who, if everything goes well, is going to be phenomenal. For England, there is lots of promise.”

Was with a couple of Ipswich fans yesterday who seemed to suggest he did nothing there.
Bitter?
Or was he just too young to be of use?
Should never have been loaned there, he had a very mixed loan at Pompey in League 1 where he started well but fell out the team. Should have gone back to league 1 the following year but the club tried to accelerate his development and sent him to a strong Championship team at 19 which was never going to work out. We couldn't even re-loan him because Ange played him in a cup game at the start of the year.

Ange Postecoglou reveals Tottenham player did not arrive in the ‘greatest physical condition’

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that following his loan spell at Championship side Oxford United, Dane Scarlett returned to Tottenham not in the best physical condition.

Dane Scarlett has spent the last few years away from Tottenham Hotspur, gaining experience on loan.

Ange Postecoglou implies Dane Scarlett needs to work on his fitness

Since rejoining Ange Postecoglou’s squad, Scarlett has continued to display his talent. He played a key role in Tottenham’s Europa League victory over IF Elfsborg, scoring and assisting in an impressive performance.

Against Ipswich Town, the young forward provided an assist, delivering a pinpoint header from his own half to set up Dejan Kulusevski, who finished beautifully.

Despite his contributions, Postecoglou has now admitted that Scarlett’s physical condition was not at its best upon his return.
Speaking to football.london, the Spurs boss said: “Yeah, look, he is working hard. Dane, like you said, has had a couple of difficult loans and that is part of the process for him.

“We were just talking about Djed, who had three difficult loans, so some of it is just perseverance, keeping your head down and waiting for your opportunity.

“He has done well for us. I said when he came back, he was not in the greatest physical condition and he is working hard on that. Hopefully, he gets more opportunities.”

Postecoglou also offered a tongue-in-cheek take on Scarlett’s assists, adding: “As an aside, I have got to say the assist is the most useless statistic in world football.

“Seriously, it could come off your backside, fall to somebody on the halfway line, and he scores, and it is an assist. So it does not impress me, but Dane’s assist at the weekend was a good one.”

He needs to pull his finger out.
