Ex-Spurs Player Danny Rose

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bro in the grand scheme of things The Sun is one tiny aspect of a whole host of shit things in football/life.

We have sponsors who use sweatshops. A tax haven dwelling cunt owner. If we went through every business deal the club has ever done I am positive we could compile a long list of scandals associated with the people/businesses we've done deals with.

There's plenty of ex pros who have written for the formerly nazi endorsing daily mail.
At the end of the day it's pointless picking and choosing so long as we operate inside the framework within capitalism.

Rose probably went to whichever paper reached out, or whoever paid the most or whatever. The guy hadn't seen a hair trimmer for half a year, he clearly had a lot on his mind and felt taken advantage of. I doubt anyone in his position would give it too much thought or care about timing.
Whether they are a tiny aspect or not, as a footballer you know what they represent and you know what you are cosigning by using them.

Rose doesn't get free reign from criticism for a shitty move.

I like to think we’d all prefer he had a move that suited him, or was able to regain form. However, because it’s ended in this sour way with being outcast from the team (like Ade did, like Vinny), perhaps we’re trying to justify it? That way, if we dislike him, we don’t feel guilty.

If he suddenly was playing at his 2016 level, I’m sure we’d have him back; Jose would have him back; Levy would pay him comparably.

But he’s not. And hasn’t for a while. For whatever reason. So, it’s easier to hate on him, as many do with Eriksen, as loads did with Bale (until a few weeks ago). It’s like betrayal. But it’s not. It’s just stuff, and people, and life. Shit happens. He’s got older, and there are two players better suited to Jose’s plans. That’s it, really.

In that case we should stop supporting Spurs as like I said they've worked with many people/businesses who indulge in activities ranging from scandalous to absolutely abhorrent.
It's not as simple as saying he's cosigning.
This forum is ran by lefties but we wouldn't say the gammon on here are cosigning them by posting would we?

We're talking about criticism not abandonment.

We all criticise Spurs.

He's not in control of what he's doing. How many people making comments over what depression is or isn't have actually had proper depression?
I don't mean being a bit miserable, I mean completely illogical and unmanageable unhappiness.

Not wishing to get into a cunt off here but maybe he’s got something worse than depression which is bad enough and surely has degrees of severity anyway

Best for Danny and the club if he leaves imv but if he takes the option of staying for the remainder of his contract we can’t argue but he should be fined every time he makes derogatory remarks which may cause harm to the club to the press

I think I said earlier on this thread or another one was that his agent needs a kick up the arse!!

I dont feel sorry for him, he may have mental healthy problems but that doesn't cover up for him being a dick

His choice to be a footballer in the public eye and his reward is his ridiculous pay packet, if he doesn't want to play football he should just retire and sort his life out

But you can’t criticise him for the ridiculous pay packet
Criticise those who sanctioned it

My biggest concern with dishing out abuse to Rose is that one day he ends up topping himself.

In a world where almost daily we get told the single biggest killer of all men is suicide, it's about time people learned to talk to and about people a little better. Or if there's nothing nice and respectful to say, don't.
He's a footballer, not a child molester.

I alluded to that the other day
Would be awful

I would love him to find another club that would take him under their wing and be able to play him regularly. The problem though is Danny's perception of himself which appears to be a "badly and wrongly treated star player". Unless he accepts that a career rebuild is necessary and that maybe a step down is a wise move for all concerned then he will continue to go through life a frustrated, angry and unfortunately extremely depressed young man.

He won't listen to Jose but perhaps if a lower league manager can convince him he could be the catalyst for his team's performances and bring them success this season if he joined them then it might tempt him to make the transition. Hope so for his sake.

Obviously everyone reacts in a different way so I don’t know, but with Danny it seems more like a personality problem than depression.

Well you said it
You don’t know what he’s been diagnosed with and neither do I but he was quite brave imv coming out and admitting it
He’s not the first to suffer this and won’t be the last

Where do you get this from? One of the symptoms of depression is the feeling that you lack any control, not that you in fact don't have any control. Lack of control is called ICD, never have I seen it suggested that Danny suffers from ICD ... if he did he certainly couldn't play professional football.
You are spot on. There is an increasingly misunderstood use of the word depression. In the laudable effort to get people to talk about their emotional wellbeing, a lot of misguided clinically inaccurate stuff is getting spouted. Danny Rose is not mentally ill. He is not suffering from for example bipolar disorder. This stuff does a disservice to people who are clinically depressed acting out willful being difficult is not some inherent symptom.

The bipolar 'chemical imbalance' stuff is even more contentious for a lot of people. I'd agree its certainly the case that depression is much misunderstood depending on what side of psychology you choose to align too. Many people associate depression with an overflowing of emotion, like a dam bursting, when in fact its the opposite - all it is a kind of circuit breaker controlled by the brain. Changes in one's life sometimes induces a period of melancholia that lasts far too long and the brain takes steps to protect the body from all this 'over emotion' by switching off the lights. Depression is characterised by a very narrow bandwidth of emotion, the challenge for the therapist is to help the patient experience and cope with the full spectrum of emotion again, from elation to sadness.

What has happened in the past is now the past. Rose will never play for Tottenham again and will leave between now and 30th June 21 when his contract expires. It is all now about whether he will actually get an offer to play and accept it. I think he turned down a move 12 months ago (unless I am thinking about Wanyama) but I am not aware he has actually received an offer since then. I think he did OK at Newcastle and there must be a Championship team that need a LB. I do hope it happens as he has performed for us in the past.
