Ex-Spurs Player Dele

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It is his first red card in his professional career. Why punish the side by not playing him? The rest of the team played 90 mins and he had a rest and with another hard match coming up we should play him. There are other punishments and I think the other players will make their feelings clear as he cost us the match.

So to cure Alli from all his issues you're suggesting spurs should train him on how to continue doing the fouls without it looking so bad? That's your advice?

Yea, I mean, he could push someone over or trip them up and it would be way better than a full studs-on-shin challenge. I'm pretty sure you can see the guys leg bend slightly backwards as Dele makes contact- it looked like a really horrific leg breaker to me. There is totally a way you get back at someone without giving them a career ending injury.

But as far as your point goes, sure, I understand and agree that my advice here is not fully altruistic.

Fucking stupid challenge he made tonight, still, rather that tonight than in the league. He's had one of those in him building up for a while now, hopefully he'll reign that shit in for now.

Still, I saw Steven Gerrard make a few tackles like that in his time and didn't do him any harm in the long run

Surprised at some of the opinions regarding punishing him further.

He's young and made a mistake, he handled his frustration poorly, he felt fouls were going unpunished against him and lashed out and his punishment was a red card and us now being out of the competition.

He does not need to be dropped, run laps, write an apology letter etc etc. I am sure he's massively disappointed tonight and feels he's let us down, he will naturally learn from these situations, I'm sure the feeling of guilt and defeat tonight is enough of a lesson.

Will he be do it again? Maybe, these things are not quick fixes. Should he be treated like a criminal? No! He'll serve his punishment the same way every player who gets a red card does.

Let him go out there Sunday and put things right... in fact he will go out there on Sunday and put things right, he's that type of player.

I think Poch is too light on him in general.

Having him learn from a potential career ending tackle is not punishing him. It's just good management. Alli is probably the most unlikeable footballer in the league, so he's always going to get targeted.

He's young, talented, good-looking, successful, and bit prideful and petulant. Pretty sure that is a recipe for other guys hating you. How long is his ban, and is it for prem or just european play?

That was a real coward's challenge. On the bright side, at least it will put off anyone from paying the money it will take to sign him.

I remember the last time the calls for Alli to be dropped....after utd "he needs to be benched".
Went on to score about 6 goals in the next few games and we went 11 or so unbeaten.

I wanted him subbed off last night, early doors, you could see it on him attitude was wrong, but wasn't expecting that.

Horrible challenge, but you know what? So what....the guy played on twice after feigning severe injury on his fake bandaged knee so how bad was it.

Could have ended his career, well it didn't....

Drop him for Stoke? Fuck off....might as well cash in then for 100M

"We need players, the transfer window was shit, the squad is crap, top 4 is gonna be a struggle"

Yeah drop Dele Alli, that will help us right out with all the injuries. I mean the FA can't fuck us, lets fuck ourselves

Fucking comments in here. Literally fucking unbelievable! What I would give for 11 Dele's on the pitch.

It was a late tackle, that's it, nothing more than that. Late tackles end up with someone getting hurt because they are late. It is part of football for fuck sake. He got a red card and rightly so, that is his punishment and of course being linched by your own fans.

People saying he had a smile on his face when he did it or he has issues caused by his upbringing, I have NEVER heard such wank in all of my life, who are you idiots!? I've rarely heard of a footballer so young sound so assured, so articulate, so smart as him, yet our own fans think he is a deranged axe wielding psychopath, mentally scared taking out his revenge on anyone who fouls him, fucking hell!

People carrying on as if he is a walking red card, fuck me this is his first one he's got! Why should Poch drop him for next game? Why would any manager do that? Has any manager ever done that? Again never heard such wank in all of my life. No wounder Red Top news papers haven't gone to the wall.

Late tackle implies he was going for the ball in the first place. He wasn't. He was going for the player's leg.
We've seen it before with Gazza - an overall decent human being with a tendency to lash out and do stupid things to the detriment of their careers (also known as self-destruct button).
Poch's treatment of Dele - his "special boy" - is akin to Venables treatment of Gazza, just let him do what he likes.
Dele has huge potential, as he could be the most gifted English midfielder since Gazza, but that challenge gets worse each time you look at it. If the petulance keeps happening then the club has to do something rather than just ignore it.

11 Deles? Fuck off.

Give me 11 Danny Roses, sure. An actual leader who plays with passion. Not a petulant little cunt with some talent.

He'll learn, but fuck me he's got to grow up.

Suddenly everyone is behind the scenes ITK experts on what Poch says to Dele now too.....our own fans calling him a cunt.

LOL, there was less vitriol when Rodwell tried to break Dembeles legs, or when Wickham elbowed Vertonghen in the face.

People screaming from the rooftops about a foul on a player that played on and was up on his feet in seconds with a little scratch on his shin.

Shoulda woulda coulda.....the guy was ok, and Dele rightly got sent off.

What more do they want? Retrospective ban for the rest of the season? Poch to fire him? Drop him? Fine him?
No one here knows Dele Alli, so know one knows what the fuck is the best way to deal with him. Poch does, so either trust the manager, or swallow it.

He did wrong, was punished accordingly and we move on. What club fines their own player for a foul for fucks sake.

Dele is a kid who made a mistake. Think about the stuff you did when you were 20 and how it would stand up to close attention.
Gerrard got sent off v Everton when he was 19, maybe Liverpool should have fucked him off instead of getting behind him ... not.
