Ex-Spurs Player Dele

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Read that Dele is in a bit of a catch 22 wiht regards his "agreed in principle" contract. The only way he can convince Dyche that he's ready to play is to play. But without being signed on he can't even play U21's.

The only way he can show he's ready is with friendlies. News is that Everton were readying some behind closed doors matches which he could be involved in when he got injured again.

Feels like it's never going to come good for him again.

It was a fantastic pass, whether or not it was meant for Moura. I will never forget Dele's face in celebration of that goal, and also the stubbly kiss planted on my cheek, from my pal in an Amsterdam pub that night 🤣 🫶. One of the craziest nights of my entire life!
There was an element of luck about that pass (watched it in slow-mo ~20 times), but he does check Moura's movement a few seconds before, and either way, it doesn't take away from one of the most incredible moments I've ever seen in football. I scared my neighbours that night.

EDIT: Had to watch it again. Goosebumps and shiny eyes!

I've always been of the opinion that Dele's fall started the day he moved up the field and started playing as a second striker. He had more glory, glory moments after that, but I feel you could see the atrophy of his skill and talent in almost real-time. His game steadily devolved into eventually just timing his runs into the box and striking at loose balls.

His rise was so sudden and meteoric that you have to assume that he started taking his skill and talent for granted.
One would have to question the off-field stuff he got up to, that contributed to the decline.
Are his friends still with him or has the cash run out?
I was hoping he had decided to source some treatment for his past childhood experiences which always stay with you, its how you manage it I guess. Love the bloke great player for us and those two goals he scored against Chelski my favorites!

Hard to think that Dele started in the World Cup 2018 at 22 yrs old and he was on his way down after that . Less and less first team starts . He had 3 brilliant years.
He has hardly kicked a ball for the last two years. Would be an achievement to play regularly for Everton, never mind England. Would be nice if he could get back playing regularly at whatever level . As it stands he is a free agent while training with Everton . We keep hearing he is training well but seems no nearer the Everton matchday squad.

He's reportedly flying out to Italy to train with Como in Serie A.

Could definitely pick worse spots to go train and hang out.
I wish him well, will always be grateful for what he achieved here, all those wonderful moments he gave us. Such a shame his career went down the shitter, but as long as his head is right, that's the main thing.

I'm a sucker for a turnaround & happy ending story, would friggin love it if he found his mojo again and somehow made it back to the top...with us.

Go get it, lad!

He's only 28, this should be his peak. Imagine him being even better than his Spurs best. It's all so sad.

Hope he can get it together for one last chance somewhere.

In all honesty; it doesn't matter now..... What matters is the lad finds some peace.

If he still wants to kick a ball around somewhere (which it appears he does); that's just a bonus.

One of the biggest football enigmas to me is Dele's career. Even as late as January 2019 I was left worried about the Spurs first-team if he got ruled out injured/suspended. Within 18 months after that I was left worried whenever he was in it.

Always good for a goal or an assist but when those dried up all I seemed to see him do were lazy attempts of flick-ons to the point he just irritated me. His free transfer to Everton should have been a warning to them something was up and I'd love to know just how much his rapid decline was down to him supposedly downing tools/personal issues and how much was down to teams working out how to shut him down.

Nevertheless I wish him well.
