Top class pass & move goal from Cirkin.

Apparently, Mourinho loved him. I've no idea why we let him go.
Because we only make £ by selling young players. Pleat confirmed this a little while back in an interview when he also pointed out that out of all the foreign players we have bought only 3 have ever had a profit and one of which was Wimmer

Turned 21 earlier this month - has had a season at League 1 with Sunderland and as they were promoted last season has had this season in Championship.

Plays both as LCB and LB, so a replacement for Davies whose contract runs to 2025 and turns 30 tomorrow. And would qualify as a Club trained player of which we are short.

Would possibly benefit from another season in Championship to get more experience, but otherwise think he'd do better than Sessegnon, who continues to disappoint, as an alternate to Destiny Udogie who joins this summer.

As I recall, Cirkin forced a move because he didn’t see a pathway into the first team with us. It’s worked out well for him and Jack Clarke. Both playing solid football in the Championship.

Jack Clarke and Alex Pritchard are doing well for them too. Good to see, they are not good enough for where we are but happy to see them doing well.
Are you sure about that?????

Of course the flaw in Levy's cunning plan is that Cirkin would have to want to return to our club.

And after today's utter shitshow......

See how both parties feel at the end of next season. He'll be 22 by then; by which time we could well have parted ways with any or all of Sess, Perisic & Davies.

Hope we keep Davies around. Even in the midst of a mass clearout a bit of continuity is necessary and he's a good candidate.

A very respectable bakcup LB/LCB/LWB, the type you actually want to put on the pitch if the starter gets injured, not the Samchez type that makes you panick.

100% agree.

However his deal runs out in 2025. We'll either sell him in summer 2024 (at aged 31) or he'll get the final "retire here" extension.

The other 2 have no future here though that's for sure:

Sess (OOC 2025)
Perisic (OOC 2024)

Depends how Udogie does as well. Cirkin might not want to come back if he knows he's going to be behind Udogie in the pecking order

So many moving parts right now.

Ideal scenario.....

Sunderland get promoted next season..... We buy him and then loan him back so he can have a run at the EPL as a starter..... Exactly like we should have done for Spence/Forest this season.

I have a real uneasy feeling about this kid. He gives me strong Sissoko vibes. Has good composure in front of goal which is great for a WB but sort of bumbles his way to good attacking positions similar to Sissoko. None of the finesse and tight control that you want, and is so common in sides like City, Brighton, Barca etc.
