I read Munn's appointment as Levy/enic being open to the idea of either owning or having some sort of long term relationship with clubs in other countries to be some sort of htroup which allows players to move from one club to another. The reason for that is Munn has been a 'country manager' for China rather than just head of one particular club *although he was that at Melbourne City before he moved to China).
It maybe relevant, or not, that Enic 's initial strategy was part ownership of multiple clubs - so owned a % of Spurs, Glasgow Ranges, Sparta Prague, Vicenza, Basle - before selling all to focus on Spurs where by buying out Alan Sugar Enic ended up owning circa 85% or so of Spurs. So in some senses this would revert to Enic's original strategy before they realised minority ownership didn't give them enough control etc.
But I may be entirely wrong on ths
My suspicion is that concerns about Conflicts of Interest will always make ownership of several elite football clubs by one company problematic. The "feeder club" idea still loosely exists, but is often little more than preferential agreements between clubs to develop & loan young players.
My own suspicion is that ENIC is not limiting their "investments" to football, but rather exploring expanding to a range of sports where Conflicts of Interest don't exist.
Obviously, our stadium has been built as a top class NFL stadium, with changing rooms big enough for NFL "rosters". If Lewis wants to maximise his investment & then cash out, hiring senior operational managers like Munn helps prepare the ground for any new owner. Our administrative & financial structure will no longer be Daniel Levy & a couple of others ,but professionals with an established international career in sports management.
For instance if, as has been rumoured, the NFL did decide to create a new 4 team league outside mainland USA, eg 2 teams in England, 1 in Germany, 1 in Mexico, then we would be in poll position as the home of one of those new "franchises".
Billionaires are desperate to buy NFL franchises because they rarely come up for sale.
Someone like Jeff Bezos could make ENIC a huge offer for the football club & future NFL franchise. We're in London, with a state of the art stadium & training facilities, and a huge potential fanbase for both sports.
Just my tuppence worth. But if Lewis wants to cash out, having Munn & a Sporting Director like Spors in place, helps the process.
