True.

I’m sure he’s able to find out what contracts players are on and what the club are asking for.

His value is his contacts as as judging a player. Ange will decide which players come in.

Saw something that said 10 of the 11 players who started at the weekend were Paratici signings. With Son being the only player over the age of 27.

Incredible rebuild.

Johan Lange’s right-hand man, Frederik Leth | AVFC - Avillafan.com - Aston Villa Fansite, Blog, & Forum..

The Copenhagen board had previously expressed their appreciation for Leth’s work, saying that he was ‘analytically gifted’, ‘talented’ and that Leth had been a ‘key figure in developing Copenhagen in terms of structure, data and science’.

Leth’s numerical expertise and experience in similar roles when working alongside Lange will prove beneficial to Villa’s approach to in-house operations.

In September 2020, 26-year-old Frederik Leth was appointed as the new Technical Director of FC Kobenhavn (Copenhagen) following the departure of Johan Lange, who joined Aston Villa as Director of Football.

Leth was originally the Head of Scouting & Analytics at the Danish club, before he was promoted to the director role. The board at the club are quoted as saying that he was ‘analytically gifted’, ‘talented’ and has been a ‘key figure in developing Copenhagen in terms of structure, data and science’.

Rumours of Leth moving to the Premier League started just a few months later, with the then Technical Director announcing he would be resigning from his post by the end of the year after a structural reorganisation.

Original rumours stated that Frederik would be joining Aston Villa as ‘Lange’s right-hand man’ – but other news died down towards the end of 2020.

Today, February 2nd, we can confirm that Frederik Leth has started at Aston Villa Football Club in the ‘Head of Football Research role’ after serving his notice period at FC Copenhagen.

The role means that Leth will work closely with Johan Lange and other Heads of Department to ensure that “evidence based practice is as relevant and contemporary as possible”.

The pair have several years of experience of working together, and Frederik Leth’s professional experience, analytical mind and work ethic have obviously impressed Lange enough to make a move to work with him once more.

Leth had told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet that he had “eight good years with FC Copenhagen” but felt that it was “time for a new direction”.

The Head of Football Research role is a new one at Aston Villa, and a rare one across the entire league.

Poach him

Head of Recruitment ?

Read this a few days ago. Rob Mackenzie was with us previously, working under Paul Mitchell (IIRC). He was the guy that debunked the notion that Poch wasn't on board with the signing of Vinicius on the scout 7 podcast.

Edit
Meant Vincent Jansen

Is it Carlos Vinícius you are talking about?
If so, it makes total sense that Pochettino was not on board with that signing as Carlos Vinícius joined Spurs for the 2020-21 season while Pochettino got sacked by Spurs in November 2019.

Neither now wanted by Villa……makes me a bit concerned or be honest.
Villa probably rightly going all in for Emery, have brought in Monchi, who was SD from his time at Sevilla, who will have his own people and way of doing things. Haven't a clue about Lange or any of these guys mentioned, but them being finished up with Villa doesn't seem much of a mark against them in this instance.

Sorry, I meant Vincent Jansen.

My bad

Yup I think Poch said (quite proudly) that he had personally scouted Janssen (maybe when he played for Netherlands v England but also maybe other games too), but that went quiet after Janssen joined Spurs, Poch decided he wasn't quite ready and shipped him out on loan.

I had a Dutch neighbour (Feyenoord supporter) at the time and he told me that Janssen after just one season at AZ as main striker, he was a big risk, and would have been better to leave him at AZ for a 2nd year before making the jump to a bigger side such as Spurs. 20/20 hindsight suggests my neighbour was right.
