Unless Levy is a clown he should have been looking at a replacement for Paratici months ago . His demise if not inevitable was highly , highly likely. Short list should have been in place , tbf maybe it is, none of know in all honesty

When you say a short list, do you mean just a list of guys? Or do we conduct initial interviews whilst Paratici is still in place? Alert agents that we may be looking to replace the position? What does a short list mean to you?

I can understand is keeping an eye on DoFs that are doing a good job elsewhere. But I don’t believe it should be much more than that when we have a guy already in the job.

Personally I would have had agents sounding out interest from candidates. Paratici could even be told that we are going to check out availability in case he loses his appeal . If he were to object I think it would be pretty unreasonable as this is good planning to cover a crisis of his making .
Truth is we should never of hired him

Due diligence, if you incl Juve history and Serie A history for such things was a massive red flag

In hindsight, yes we shouldn’t have went near him. But whilst he was in place, I think it would have been difficult, even from an HR perspective, to sound out prospective replacements. And if we did get agents to sound people out, what are they going to say? “You’ve already got a DoF and I’ve already got a job, so not keen on pissing anyone off by supporting rumours that I’m talking to someone else.” Probably.

At least this time it does seem like we are taking our time to do due diligence. I have to assume that’s what’s happening, rather than thinking that Levy is just sitting on his arse playing Candy Crush. Happy to take a couple of months to find the right guy, rather than a couple of weeks to find the wrong one.

I think frustration is building based on the feeling we have gone backwards post Poch , I know we nicked top 4 last season , but more down to gooners bottling it in my opinion

Fans tend to be patient when things are going well and irrational tantrum throwers when things are going poorly , or maybe that’s just me

Mate , come on football is rife with tapping up . It’s so commonplace . I think very few have a moral compass about being approached

Levy we know has no reservations about such behaviour, Jol and Ramos is possibly the worst example that comes to mind, but all clubs are at it

It’s been three weeks since Paratici left. And there’s folk getting their panties in a bunch because we haven’t replaced him?

If I’m recruiting a sales exec for. a wee company that turns over a couple of million a year, by the time I start looking, interview a couple of times, notice periods are sorted, etc, it takes me a couple of months.

Yet we expect a huge decision like this to happen in the space of three weeks? No.
True but it’s been months since the reports that he could be banned first came out so surely preparations would have begun then.

But we’ve known there was a huge possibility of him having to leave for months. We should of been sounding out replacements long before he actually left

Aye, that’s fair I suppose. And maybe we had done that. I’d still maintain that this kind of appointment takes a lot of time to get over the line.

Same as the manager position. Unless someone perfect is available, we probably do look at the likes of Amorin, Alonso, etc and keep them in mind for if or when we need to approach them.

In my field if you approach someone elite who is experienced and you want them they are unlikely to accept being part of a process . The attitude is , you approached me , you know what i can do , you have a meeting and if it goes well you hire them, providing you agree on the package

I cannot imagine for a second Naglesman accepting we have another 6 candidates, we will revert in a few weeks .

Now if the candidate is not elite and approaches us it is a completely different scenario . I would like to think though we are not looking at anyone who needs to bang their CV in . Again this applies to a relative novice we may make them compete with other candidates.

What I can’t see is Naglesmann waiting around while we look at other candidates. I certainly wouldn’t if I was him . We may have others on the list , but if , and it’s a big IF we are trying for him I doubt we are talking to anyone else just yet.. If we are talking to others I suspect he is a non starter

Obviously we will be looking at DOF’s at this time

The issue for me is not that the recruting of a DOF is taking time. Recruting any executive should take time since you want to get the absolutely right one. And if they have a job they probably have exit clauses that have to be met.

The issue for me is that we seemingly were not prepared at all for the possibility of Paratici getting caught up in the Juventus trial.

Hahaha shut the f up Donna. Everyone knew Paratici was under investigation so he was only in the job by proxy. Of course the bald maggot should have been actively preparing for his departure and inevitable replacement but we all know by now that the little bastard doesn’t do contingency planning and prefers to write off season after season, without a care in the world

I actually didn’t have a problem with waiting until the end of the season to fill the manager’s position with a sole caveat: waiting has probably cost us a place in the Europa League.

I wanted Nagelsmann after his RBL stint but his firing by Bayern and subsequent flirtation with Chelsea is a definite red flag for me to the degree that I think it’s worth waiting until the end of the season to interview the best available candidates. I think that there’s going to be several excellent potential candidates and I don’t want a manager who views Tottenham as a fallback position.

I’m not sure if the search for a DoF is going to be independent of that for manager. I would hope it would be but there’s obviously rumours that we take JN/RR as a pair. I wonder if other potential managers have a preference that might play into whether they will accept the post. Hopefully, the club have been preparing for Parataci’s departure and are at least identifying strong candidates.

I am well pleased Levy is taking his time here. Given all the other times he has dragged his feet, struggled to make a decision and taken months and months to get anywhere, and that’s worked out mustard. So what could possibly go wrong this time 👍

How did he flirt with Chelsea? It was reported that he spoke to them but was not satisfied with the set up and future plans. Nothing wrong with Speaking with multiple clubs, Levy is speaking to more than 1 manager.

Nagelsmann didn’t have chavs as a priority over spurs. It seems more like they spoke to him first and he didn’t like what he heard.

If he chooses Spurs now there will be no question where his preference would be.

Given that results haven’t been enough for Masons case now (I do think he has pumped his reputation and standing in a big way though) I’m really hoping Nagelsmann is as good as done once we get a DOF to go with him.
