He said that Spence was a "club buy," so if Levy was held responsible for buying him, as you often point out for any player that fails, then how is he the problem here? He sanctioned the buying of a player that we now believe has WC ability, it was the managers who refused to play him.
Couple that with his inability to make an impact at any of his loan clubs and, whether you buy it or not, it points to Spence as being the common denominator. As has been pointed out countless times on here, different players mature at different rates, both physically and mentally.
What we should celebrate is the fact that it is Spence who has turned it all around. Despite his numerous setbacks, he's come back stronger and better, forcing himself into the reckoning for a WC berth and owning any winger, right or left, that comes at him.
Forget what's happened in the past, that's a fools errand. What we have now is a monster of a fullback/wingback who is only just now coming into his prime, and, personally, I'm loving it.
