Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If it's an attitude problem with Spence then it's certainly not obvious on the pitch... looks one of the busiest, takes on his man and always looking for the pass. Good overlapping runs.

Another excellent game tonight. Something positive at last in this injury shitstorm.
I feel like credit is due to the coach in this situation.

The message has clearly been "your training's not good enough, reach this level and you'll play".

Djed's done the work to reach that level, and clearly that level can help us.

While giving credit to him, I do think you can't underestimate the benefit of not having played a trillion minutes this season like Porro and Udogie have had to. Rotation will do all of them a world of good physically and mentally.

Lol how you are crediting Ange I do not know. He was able to of play months ago we saw that against Coventry. That we have battered Porro and Udogie is fucking inexcusable.

That's not really what happened is it?

I've a strong suspicion he's only being played because both Porro and Udogie are gassed, and he's being forced to play Gray at CB

100% This. Ange behaved like a few here locked fully in to a a set idea they refuse to let go.
I mean I don't know how to explain signing him to a new contract and then leaving him off the Europa League squad.

But Ange reintegrated him back into the squad in the first place, and then has said over and over that he wants more from Spence in training.

It seems reasonable to me to believe the Spence we now have is better than the Spence we would have had if Ange had said "good enough" in September.

Playing against a team with no wingers and using a defender as their wing-back surely made his job easier, but he was very good regardless. Relentless pressing all over the pitch without neglecting his primary defensive responsibilities, proactive with the ball, nice read of the game, great engine for most of game. Not much more to ask from a player who wasn't getting any meaningful minutes prior.

He definitely earned a place in the squad, especially considering that Udogie is far from a world beater himself. Don't overthink and just let him play.

What is impressing me most is his passing.

The assist for Madders on Sunday. Ball for Solanke tonight. He played another few good through balls to Son.

Sees passes that Udogie would never.

Funny how many on here really don't want to credit Ange for being the first manager to get this out of Spence. He could have used him earlier tho, that's fair.

Still, taking nothing from Djed, he committed, stayed patient and earned these chances to show how good he is.

DJED ARMY!!

More than solid performance again tonight - cant be ignored. He's competition for a place, not a back up, and I hope that what we've all seen is recognised by the coaching staff
