Locking up Johnson great achievement. He's now on par with Tamworth's left back.
Spence is really leaning into this 1v1 defensive aspect to his game which is obviously his main strength. Still, you have to contribute more in attack as a modern fullback and we have seen very little of that from him. That's why he is still behind Porro and Udogie.
If you offer no attacking threat you basically become Wan Bissaka or Tyrick Mitchell. Which is fine in the right system but rare to see that type of one dimensional fullback at the very best teams.
Yeah he really needs to work on his offensive game.
I really like Spence, he’s very athletic and very strong 1v1. But he’s not contributed to a single goal this season and didn’t contribute to many last either.
Damola posted a meme of Warnock in retaliation so it’s clearly a teammate piss take thing.
For all Djed’s hamming it up he seems a reasonably sensible lad so I very much doubt he’s going to post anything he’d know would offend a teammate and close friend. It’s one of several slides on one post so he’d just take it down if Brennan wasn’t happy about it.
The penitentiary thing, cigars and faux gangster are all playing up to an online character IMHO.
But isn’t that more indicative of modern society and how quick people are to play the racism card? If it’s two black people it’s ok, if it’s two white people it’s ok, but if it’s one white person and one black person it’s automatically racist, when truly speaking there’s no racial leanings in that post as far as I can see. It’s more a ‘I owned you on the football pitch’ meme.
The only person that’s got any right to be offended by that post is Brennan and if he was, all he’d have to do is say he’s not happy about it and ask Djed to take it down. The fact Djed is continuing to post these memes about his own team mates would indicate to me it’s a bit of harmless piss taking.
I’m not suggesting we return to the bigoted 1970’s, just that we shouldn’t automatically assume the worst.
But Dele was abused as a kid, Djed as far as we know didn't.

The only issue I see is Djed punching down really. Like slapping a kitten. Go pick on a man in the dressing room.
I wondered about this and tactics experts will correct me.
First, don't we write off anything for any player that happened last season, given the general level of rubbish play? Under Ange, he would have been the inverted full back, but the team descent into chaos didn't help.
Second, I noticed that Tuchel got him doing dummy runs to draw an opposing player, thus allowing Gordon space to cut inside. His role was to play second fiddle to the England winger/wide forward. It worked well. This might be seen as a lack of contribution to goals, but that misses the vital contribution to attacking play.
Isn't this the role Frank would want him to play (on either side)? On the left side for us, there is the issue of the need for more attacking verve in any case, with no settled wide forward play/player as yet? This is a developing thing, which will get better under Frank, and we'll see the combinations that will allow him to get to the goal line and do stuff that we've seen Djed do before. But I don't think he is a problem.
Spence has had to learn the left back role due to Udogie being injured a lot but Porro always being available for the RB role. Spence is very one footed and I think being able to use your left foot opens up better passing angles if you play left back. It’s not the whole story but the limitations of Spence in attack I think is more to do with just how right footed he is, when he has played right back his dribbling and passing has caused the opposition issue but when he plays left side he mostly checks back onto his right foot and passes inside or back.
