Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Also, I think whilst competition for Richarlson and Solanke is good I'm expecting Solanke to get the initial nod because of his fitness (availability). This too I see as good for us and also Richie because when he has played he has more or less performed well, this should take the pressure off him to play if he's not 100% fit and making his injury worse than it already is and thus being out for longer spells well into the season as a consequence. We can manage him far better (himself too) which in turn should yield even better performances.

Richy is a very good player when fit and fit the system as a CF but obviously we had to do this as clearly Richy’s fitness is up and down.

Much as I love Son and much as Kulusevski and Maddison can also play false 9 that should only be for certain games tactically, Ange’s system needed a proper 9.

Look at the Liverpool game, 4-0 down, Richy comes on and we start to play well because our balance is fixed, we score 2 yes but there is now structure. I hate Werner-Son-Johnson combo not because of the players but because the balance is wank. There is no focal point or ball retention.

if he was top target why has it taken this long into the window?
...because there wasn't one thus he isn't it. Another overpriced, opportunistic buy just like Johnson. At least in this instance the player actually brings something we need...and he brings it every game...which I like...but most on here will not appreciate it so he will be a bust in their minds.

I personally think he's very close to a can't miss but my evaluative criteria are different. The only question for me is value for money. This move would have been a exceptional if it was combined with Richarlison to Saudi.
Would much rather have Toney, but I hope I'm going to be proven wrong. He'll have my full support either way. Welcome to N17 Dom!
I see your point...and it's a good one...especially if you're focused on striker = goals as Toney would be the more likely to get something out of nothing. And since we haven't upgraded the outside attackers I worry that your point (if I've accurately characterized it) will be more salient as the season goes along.
Transfers are very difficult and take time.

This may be news to you.
Uncritical nonsense.
Been singing his praises for the best part of a year... happy with this.

Hopefully he smashes it
You were in the vanguard my man...only turns 27 next month and banged in 19 last season to bring his PL total to 29 in 134 (8773min...almost 3 full seasons...for 65M)...thanks for the heads up. Got anymore tips? What's your take on that Messi kid we keep hearing about?

Who knows how it'll turn out, but on the face of it I think he's a good signing. In his prime, good fitness record, was playing for a high pressing, fairly attacking team and just scored 19 premier league goals. Nothing not to like, in my opinion.

He's probably a good 15 million more than what he's worth. But Bournemouth didn't need to sell, they're not desperate for money, and he's a player approaching his peak. I think he will do very well for us. He's a proper striker and, who knows, with better players around him, with no disrespect to a very decent Bournemouth team, perhaps he can go up a level still.

Richarlison Part 2

Levy is a joke
Definite upgrade...but 65M worth probably not if you are just focusing on the goals. If we feed him he will score...and the rest of his game should help in improving the whole as well. In my opinion he's a good player to build on...and by that I mean he is good enough to allow us time to search for a better, top player. Richarlison wasn't that.

But we clearly like wasting money...Richarlison - 60, Johnson - 50-something, Solanke - 65. That's a poor utilization of resources. Why my complaint has always been not 'how much' we spend but how incompetently we spend it.

This one has to work out... I have minor doubts about his goalscoring records in the past, but there is still room for improvement.

Very good signs are though that he seems to be a fan, really wanted to come, top target and has a full week of training ahead of the start of the new season.
