Do you not think there is a reason why we are 17th and have lost 22 games ?
It's partly down to Solanke being pretty shit compared to other front players in the PL.

Solanke's hold up play and sheer hard work off he ball creates the conditions for others to score

You are praising him for running around so other players get space. That is literally the definition of being a body
The bar is so low with him - his hold up play is not even that good.

Since I have been following Tottenham - this has been said about players who don't perform _ I could go through the list of ultra mediocre payers who eventual got sold to a championship team . who deluded fans bigged up
When they did nothing for games on end - it was always " You don't understand what he does off the ball"

Yes Solanke runs around a lot chasing their players - no you don't need to spend £65m to get someone to do it. It takes no skill - any fit footballer can do it .

I actually think Johnson has more potential.

I know what you mean.....i wish we had Zirkzee or Holjund instead......🤔

Were funny old fans aren’t we? Solanke gets abuse for the lack of goals, Johnson gets shit for only scoring goal, couldn’t make it up. Fact is we are playing a system that both players are carrying out.

Truth is scoring isn’t really an issue, we have scored the same number as Chelsea in the league, it’s the conceded number due to the lack of availability in the back 4. 18 league appearances for Romero and 12 for VdV, and even at that rhey have managed to forge a good relationship playing wise.

Bellend really is a good description.

Information fed into you but meets a dead end in the middle of the head and uninformed gibberish comes out of the other side of your head.

If I didn't know better, the only question is which team do you actually support - there's a long list of possible teams ?

On average (if my mental workings out are roughly correct) he's only on average 2 Premier League goals per season behind Defoe. He's on a goal in slightly more than every four games, and Defoe is on a goal in about every 3 and a bit games. so for example in a 40 game season Solanke scores a fraction under 10 goals and Defoe score about 12.

Yeah. Solanke is a perfectly fine striker. The issue for him just as with Richarlison, is that he plays in the shadow of Harry Kane.

Kane has set expectations at this club that there are few strikers that are going to live up to. Combine that with the fees that they went for and it is a mix of hard to achieve expectations.

One tiny adjustment needed - Defoe was often a sub - on mins per goals it's not even close.

We're conceding a lot because we have a naive system making us extremely vulnerable at the back. It's all out attacking most of the time and teams hitting us at the counter. You can't blame injuries for that. Other teams have injuries too. There is absolutely no excuse for finishing behind teams like West Ham, Wolves, Everton who themselves struggled mightily this season and had to sack their managers.

I agree Ange should have taken a more pragmatic approach a lot more at times. Whether you think the key players we lost etc, should make a difference to performances is an individual opinion.

It's a bit bizarre to have all those injuries and use it as an excuse for the poor league form, and at the same time play an all out attack style of football.
I’m not using it as an excuse and I don’t recall Ange even mentioning it. It’s all a bit of a conundrum for me, for years, we have ripped managers/players and the club and Levy to shreds, we win a major trophy and yet we are still arguing. I swear some supporters just like being miserable.

Postecoglou has mentioned the injuries as a reason for the poor league form, and to a degree he was probably right but what I'm saying is in that situation we needed to play the matches in a safer mode, make us difficult to score against, be defensive until the players are back fit again.

So Postecoglou imo hasn't managed the situation well.

His first season was decent, second season league for poor, EL win, what we have been crying out for. I’m not saying it’s been all plain sailing, but we have somthing we have needed for 17 years, and the EL is surely higher on the scale than the League Cup. I don’t think anyone is saying he’s perfect but after all are crying and clawing about a trophy we now have one.

People look at Solanke like a striker who should be our main source of goals. That’s not the role he’s performing.

If they looked at him as a vital cog in an attack that scored more than we did with Son and Kane at their peak but shared the goals around, then they would understand him better

Maybe I haven't been explaining my point very well.

I'm not discussing the Europa Cup win or how long we have waited for a trophy.

Rather my point is in the Premier League with all those injuries we should have batten down the hatches rather than playing gung ho.

Europa is rated higher than the league cup but with the new system of no champ lge clubs in it, it’s a lot easier to win than the league cup.

I don’t agree, more matches and more travel for the EL than the league cup, it’s week in week out. Again it’s all opinions.

I agree Ange should have played the PL in more games like he did in the EL. But as a season you have to look at all comps and see how one could have affected the other. At the end of the day if Ange had failed in Europe I’d be saying he needs to go, IF there is someone available.
