Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not a world beater. All-around, decent at everything but not elite at anything type. Considering his age (the fact that he's not a prospect) and level, his price tag is certainly questionable. That being said, he's put in such a terrible situation for a striker that I can't help but feel sorry for him. Not a single quality winger regularly capable of taking his man on 1v1s and delivering quality balls to him. Most creative central midfielder on the team (Maddison) being used more as a CM than as a AMC. He looks like one of those strikers well suited to play with a secondary striker, one that will take advantage of his gravity to get into empty spaces within the opposing defense created by him. Instead, more often than not he's all alone inside the box.

We only buy players that we don't have to get into a bidding war with

I.e players that no other big clubs have any interest in

No one was fighting us for Richarlison at 60m

Richarlison has said while away on national team duty: “I know Chelsea made an offer, and I believe Woolwich also contacted Everton to ask about my situation, but Spurs came in and paid the fee, you know? It’s as simple as that. Everton had to sell some players to avoid a Financial Fair Play problem, and the negotiations were very brief, to be honest.

“I was on holiday in Brazil when I heard that Tottenham had made Everton an offer. I was happy because they are a huge team. Then it was all about the clubs negotiating a deal, and fortunately, everything went well. Antonio Conte called me during the negotiations and expressed how much he’d like to have me on board – that was vital for my decision.”

no doubt we over paid though which helped!

He was a Conte signing.

All of us were begging Levy to get him whoever he wanted.

Hopefully I'm being too soon with this because of the fraud he has to play under but, looks like yet another mid table club has done us out of £50M plus and upgraded with a replacement for much cheaper.

He's very obviously good imo. Like its clear.

He's obviously not Kane tier good, but he's Watkins tier good. The guy is a proper footballer and a proper centre forward. He is physical, works his fucking arse off, can link play to a good level, strong in the air. His finishing is hit and miss but welcome to most strikers in 2024. Unless we took a risk on a young striker and hoped we struck lucky or pushed the boat out on high wages/fees (NEVER happening under this CUNT ownership) that's the reality.

He's playing in a side with wingers who don't deliver him service, he's having to drop in and do ALL the football stuff that his "providers" should be doing more of, and the hybrid 8/10's behind him have 1 good game in 3. He's a decent signing who yeah, ultimately we chose because low wages to fee ratio, but hey he's pretty much the only player we signed who doesn't still have a cupboard packed full of clearasil products.

The guy works his arse off and is a box threat. He's a unit, strong, and good in the air. We need to play way more to him aerially, we're pinging little balls out wide all the time which isn't his game.

If we play to his strengths more and don't leave him so isolated I'm confident he'll do quite well for us. He's not Kane level (who is?) but he's a very solid option at PL level.

He's bang average

He is def better than Richarlison but he is not the long term solution. We need a striker that can get atleast 15-20 goals a season consistently.

Decent PL-level player but do you win trophies with Solanke leading the line? I'm not sure.

You can't yet bank on him putting fear into the best defences and that is a concern.

Generally I like his play but it was always going to be a massive step down from peak Kane + Son.

We're back to the days of signing forwards like Chris Armstrong. Perfectly decent but not game-changers.

And for the record I liked Armstrong and also like Solanke, but it screams midtable settling.

He would be a good second or third choice striker. Back in the days when teams had more than one striker, he’d have been a useful guy to have in the squad.
But 65M for your first choice number 9? We’ve had our pants pulled down there.

Levy doesn't care about performance - The key is that Solanke is the lowest paid starting No 9 among the Big 6. People need to start appreciating wha'ts important our beloved Chairman - whose wage is deservedly much higher than Solanke (sarcasm).

Weekly Wage
Halland 375K
Rashford 300K (Zirkzee 105K)
Havertz 280K
Darwin 140K
N Jackson 100K
Solanke 90K

Some others of note
Watkins. 130K
D. LEVY 125K
Isak 125K
R Jiminez 100K
Evanilson 85K
C Wood 80K

Could we get that Levy fella scores when he likes fits into the wage structure.

Nothing against Solanke and probably a better striker than Wiood (only probably) but Wood would score more goals for us abd be a bigger threat.

Solsnke and it's not his fault is more than likely indicative of where we go wrong.

We continually make the wrong choices more than we don't spend the money.

It's just incredible.
