You would never see a club like Villa or Forest pay this much for such a mediocre player. I'm not sure why him and Brennan Johnson have such a premium, but the only common denominator is "home grown talent".
We don't pay the wages the large clubs pay so we are forced to shop one tier below. The selling clubs know that their top talent leaving could be instrumental come relegation battle time which plays a big part.

They also know that Spurs have a shit load of cash and we haven't exactly hidden that fact. So we end up overpaying for tier 2 payers on sensible wages and doing the bare minimum to make 4th.

Early days I know and I'm hesitant on condemning him and I know he's been injured not had a full pre season with us and its only a few game in. All mitigating reasons. But so far, I'm not seeing anything that suggests he's gonna grab games by the scruff of the neck and win us games .. which is what the best strikers do ... Today I was looking and thinking richi would have done a far better job... 4 me Top end defenses will be able handle Solanke .. but hopefully I'm wrong and he'll go on and have a great season.

Big name signings, particularly strikers really need to hit the ground running. It never seems to happen with us. He doesn’t miss a game seemingly for Bournemouth for last two seasons then he gets injured first game. Chances missed in two games he’s played and pressure building already.

FWIW last season his goals came against:

WHam 1 + 1
Brentford 1 + 1
Brighton 1
Wolves 1
Newcastle 2 + 1
Villa 1 + 1
Man U 1 + 1
Forest 3
Fulham 1
Luton 1
Everton 1

16 games.
6 of which games were wins.
6 draws.
4 losses.

However; B'muff weren't good enough as a team to beat any of Arse, Man C, LFC or Chavs anyway... Managing 5 goals in total across those 8 games.

He's not good enough, and no amount of time is going to change that imo...
Another terrible signing by this joke of a club
cant write him off after 2 games. hes showed some promising signs. hes had absolutely fuck all service. hell get goals for us if hes given sufficient service.

his link up looks good for someone his size, hes got dumb and dumber either side of him at the moment though and thats not going to change unless the system does so hes fucked until a new manager comes in.

I thought he looked good out there today. Yes he blew that chance in the first half but it’s probably because he’s rusty from not having played much. I was impressed with the way he won the ball. His pace is good. He got into some good positions.

As soon as we win the ball on the half way line our midfielders should be looking to play him through instead we like to pass the ball from side to side

Good physical presence and hold-up, can score all types of goals. Coming off an injury so can't be too critical. One of the few positives out there.

65m was an inflated sum, but Dom's a very good forward who's looking for link-up play and good service. Neither of which we offered against Scum.

His physicality caused them plenty of issues, winning headers he had no right to get. Actually thought he had a penalty shout as well vs Gabriel.

Took a soft touch for his best chance but hasn’t played in a month. Sharpness should come.

Was really disappointed in his attempt from the turnover in the first half, he had time to shoot in the box, nobody blocking, and he bottled it, took to long, got tackled.

Does the target man stuff and presses well. But he needs to get his finishing sharpened up pronto.

I was pleasantly surprised by him yesterday. Very decent defensively, good hold-up play and got into good positions. It's just that he has two useless morons on either side of him, so the only people that can service him at the moment are Kulusevski, Madders and Porro.

He looks honestly exactly what I thought he was a solid player who frankly should be the understudy to a Kane, Oshimen, Haaland, elite forward. We have been very very spoilt. I'd rather have taken a punt on younger player with a high ceiling like say Sesko.

It’s very early days, he’s had only 2 games and he’s done some things well. I have seen enough though so as well in those two games to raise concerns that he doesn’t have that elite level class. Not getting that shot away yesterday, I felt was telling.
