That is the worst analogy imaginable. The payments are extremely affordable and help to increase revenue substantially.

Taking loans to fill gaps rather than work your way down your priority list and end up with more deadwood that you can't shift a year or two later is sensible.
Obviously better if you can just go out and sign the player at the top of your list every time but it's not always possible.
