I think the above sums my position up very well indeed. The reaction to the current leadership is about more than wins and trophies. It has more to do with the lack of direction and the odd way in which the organization seemingly finds new and unique ways of making a shambles of managerial selections and player procurement. There are clever people and people with good judgment in the business world, but sometimes being more clever than possessed of sound judgment can lead you up blind alleys. That's what happens with Spurs time and again.
Off the pitch it’s been great - shiny new stadium, world class training facilities etc.
But there’s little point in these things if our management choices remain scattergun and the scouting/recruitment department couldn’t find a prostitute in a brothel these days.
There’s no doubt that the business side has done very well and that the club is financially huge compared to where it was when ENIC took over.
That they have one league cup to show for it and chose not to refresh the squad when Poch was making it very clear that it was required is utterly unacceptable.
When money has been spent it’s been generally squandered on mediocre tat.
Levy has held onto some players too long & yet allowed our most influential midfielder fuck off to China half way through a season where we ended up in the CL final.
We won’t ever have the financial clout of United or the state/oil owned clubs (unless we become one) but Daniel’s trigger happy finger where managers is concerned & poor footballing decisions (11th hour forgettable transfer dealings being my biggest issue in his tenure, alongside the transferless windows when we were within touching distance) have spoiled the foundations that Poch laid for future success.
I’m exasperated by this club and whilst I will always support the team, we are looking down the barrel of mid table mediocrity. I don’t want to be envious of the teams regularly in the CL and challenging for trophies.
We need to get back to being in the mix. With ENIC, I don’t think it’s going to happen unless they act sharpish, break the habits of their lifetime and invest heavily in a rebuild.
