Nothing dumb at all, they got it over the line, yes we have been to finals and achieved nothing.
Open your eyes and look at our players attitude, no demand from the top to achieve.
They go through the motions then leave, to fulfill their dream elsewhere, same with our young players, they will look to leave after the mess the club is in.
Ange is a joke of an appointment, the team should have been good enough to have won the league cup, but winning it WAS too hard for them.
I wonder if the Newcastle players received their gold watches before or after the final

Where have I said they are not more ambitious than us? I simply said that basing it on a single cup final is stupid. Is there no one on this thread who can fucking read? It's almost as though some of you have already decided you want to fight, and are just assuming that others say things they don't say so you can attack them. :/

Oo swipe me, no need to get catty because I questioned the almighty.

Nobody is basing it ONLY on the cup final though, are they? If Newcastle had done nothing since takeover but just won a random cup, nobody would be claiming them as a shining example of ambition.

The reality was they had instant improvement and huge investment with money pumped in by ambitious owners. They had to dial down due to FFP but their owners have invested huge amounts where they can and very obviously want them to win things and are willing to do whatever to achieve that.

This early cup is as a natural consequence of their ambition and smart moves. They have shown intent since day one of ownership.

You’re the one assuming people are saying they’re only looking to Newcastle in this way due to a league cup win .. that isn’t happening and you know it !!

May I ask who you are referring to here JT? I certainly haven't said anything supportive of ENIC on here today, I've merely pointed out the limitations of Newcastle's achievements to date in an attempt to quell numerous posters on this thread wanking themselves off about how great Newcastle are. And I can't see much other discussion on this thread today. Are you man enough to elaborate?

They got taken over while in a relegation fight with huge debt and a terrible squad and a few years later have won a cup, are challenging for fourth (already achieved it once) and have invested hundreds of millions of their own money in to the club.

The achievements in that space of time are not that limited.

I met someone at the weekend who went to school with Levy, he claimed he was a snidey little git who everyone hated .

I totally made that up , but did anyone reading it think no fucking way that’s true

Meh, maybe you're right, maybe I'm reading more into it than people mean too. The post I originally responded said:

Superb post, nailed it in just a couple of paragraphs. We have been told that winning is hard, yet Newcastle has shown us with ambition aligned with a good coach and signings, what can be achieved, winning isn't that hard.

As subsequently explained, I have a few issues with that:

1. Whilst some idiots think it's funny or clever to claim otherwise, winning is hard, and anyone who says otherwise is simply incapable of understanding very obvious statistics and historical records of all the teams involved in competitions versus those that are consistently successful.
2. That post did seem to imply to me that the cup final win is the thing that differentiates us from them. However I do accept that it doesn't specifically say that, so perhaps that's an assumption I shouldn't have made.
3. If he's not talking about the cup final when he says "...what can be achieved", I would argue they haven't achieved a great deal else yet. We are constantly being told on here that "finishing 4th is nothing to be proud of or aim for and doesn't show ambition", and in any case it's not as though they've done that year after year yet, so it's a bit early in my opinion to be applauding their achievements. It's all just very premature.

You say "If Newcastle had done nothing since takeover but just won a random cup, nobody would be claiming them as a shining example of ambition" - but yet someone mentions Wigan a few posts later, so yes people absolutely are doing that, or at least drawing a comparison based on a single trophy win. You in fact! :/

I have no problem with anyone saying that Newcastle look to be moving in the right direction, that they seem to have more ambition than us right now, etc. I do have a problem with anyone saying that Newcastle (or indeed Wigan) are better than us simply because they won a final whereas we've lost several in recent years (which is what I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that was being implied in the post I initially responded to). That is not what differentiates us from them. That was my point.

Apologies by the way if I was a bit rude earlier, I was frustrated because multiple posters were criticising me for things I wasn't saying, but perhaps I did the same to others, plus anyway it's no excuse - my bad.
