I don't think it's this, at all. It's simply that Frank was brought here to improve the squad full of young players with potential that we've already bought.

Whether you agree with that, or not, is fair game for debate. But its always been clear that Frank was hired because he was believed to be the best person to improve the squad we had, not someone to build a squad for.
He’s been set up to fail then.

Maybe, maybe not. Harry Kane didn't get a spot in the lineup because he amazed everyone...he got selected by default because everyone else had failed. Bale was a shite LB. Son was supposedly a marketing signing. Modric was signed young for cheap. List goes on.

Non of the players in Poch's peak squad (realize I've name dropped players who were gone then) were successful proven players - they were all relatively inexpensive players with potential, and under the right manager flourished.

100% it may not come off, but replicating that is what is being attempted. And that was our best squad in at least 4 decades.

Levy has pretty much written this season off due to a total lack of ambition. Frank will (have to) play boring, hard to beat football in the same way Nuno did. The key thing is we don’t have enough really good players and our squad is weak. The fans will be singing ‘’Levy out” before the end of the first home game, and deservedly so. How long until we start seeing blocks of empty seats?
How many Koreans are turning up. Who is filling their seats. Probably all wearing LA shirts now.

Regarding getting rid of players , we do hear that they want to fight for their place , serious clubs , that’s not an option . You should be told you’re either off or you’re not playing .

I think theirs is a mentality at the club of getting too comfortable & as generally the squad is not good enough there’s nothing kick players up the arse.

Biss , Richie and a few others should be told they’re moving on not asked what their opinion is

The manager gets sacked on the spot, players get a comfort blanket.

And here’s the problem. And you can see it on here in its full glory.

“The players will perform when we get a proper manager in”
“Player X gets a clean slate for me”.

Fuck the majority of them. They hardly tried last season. Just when it suited them and it rarely did. Passing to the oppo. Rarely winning a 50/50. Not tracking runners. Lazy, entitled arseholes. Almost to a man.

He’d better nip on then. Heard the guys behind Liverpool’s development team on a pod recently saying the overwhelming evidence shows players rarely improve at anything after the age of 24. Circumstances change, team gets stronger, opposition gets weaker, etc, but underlying skills don’t improve.

Fine for Gray, Bergval, etc, but not our older players.

Non-GK over 24 on the books:

25: Kulu, Porro, Kudus
26: Danso
27: Romero, Solanke
28: Richarlison, Betancur, Bissouma, Maddison
29:
30: Palhinha
31: Davies

I don't know that we're expecting many of those to improve technically. Maybe Bissouma.

Betancur and Kulu are what they are in my mind. They're ok players, probably fine enough for bench options where we are (wanting to be) but thats it.

Richarlison needs to be healthy and consistent.

Solanke needs to score more, but arguably some of his struggles have more to do with other players than himself.

Romero needs to become more intelligent and calm.

Its the players under 24 and under that Frank is being tasked with turning into the next Walker, Kane, Son, Eriksen, etc. Tel, Odobert, Gray, and Bergvall are all still teenagers.

Thats not what anyone wants to hear, probably, but ENIC aren't changing their stripes. If we're going to really challenge for things again, its going to be because Frank and this squad become Poch 2.0+. And so thats where I place my hope.

I’ve got a soft spot for Porro as he always tries. Kudus looks decent so far. Danso is a decent level backup. Palhinha will do well for us. And I’ve got hope for Solanke, not from an improved skill level, but I am sure Frank will tell him to stop running about the place and just stick to between the posts.

The rest? Through a combination of skill level and availability? Not remotely fussed if they never played again

I know it’s not the done thing on here, but I change my mind regularly about the owners.

Winning the Europa? In.
Sacking the manager? A bit less in, but hanging on.

Another thing that’s not done that often here is understanding nuance in the situation. I get that we have increased our transfer spend by a huge amount.

I get that we also have a lot of (manageable) debt, which may be a reason why we aren’t plunging even more into new players.

I get that we have a new manager and may want him to prove himself before handing him a bulging wallet.

I also don’t particularly subscribe to the low wage ratio argument, as it’s primarily bollocks (fuck the ratio - we should be spending what the larger clubs are spending on wages as a £ note figure, doesn’t really matter if that’s 10% of our revenue or 50% of our revenue, we should be paying good players what they are worth.

What is unforgivable for me is that we seem incapable of shifting the shite players that we have just hanging around the place, as this seems to be a major reason why we can’t build an effective squad. How can other teams get their dreck out the door for multi millions and we’ve not done it since Bergwijn or Wimmer? Any strategically shaved chimp can see that we need major outgoings and incomings, as we are miles off where we should be with the strength of the squad. Because, presently, it’s stacked full of piss-weak wasters.

The structure we haves in place, be it Levy, Lange, Paratici, whoever, isn’t working and needs changing. Yet again. And the fact it needs changed again means the fault lies at the feet of Levy unfortunately. Time to move on.
Wages are the biggest thing holding us back. The fact you say it's bollox that wages aren't a factor. Spending loads of money on average players is stupid. We can't attract any players that are game changers because we can't compete with the teams we want to be competing with. Wages are more important than transfers fees. This has been proven to be true.

Also, how do you explain sides that were in the championship when we were probably the best team in the league for a period, catching up with us, and we're now competing with them as opposed to the top table?

If you're satisfied with this ownership and how they're operating, I guess you're a glutton for punishment.

Billy has to shift focus to inside the stadium, tho.

Only way.
It’s tricky. A lot of people feel quite strongly about protests not affecting the team.

I’ve always thought a one-minute white handkerchief protest like they do in Spain on the 25th minute every home match would be good. Simple, looks good for photos and media attention, the club can’t stop people bringing in a handkerchief or white cloth into the stadium, and shouldn’t affect the team too much.

Easy to support the players and shout their names and show you're behind them in the stadium and have a seprate, very loud verbal protest against that bald fuck.

Make it consistent, make it loud and never stop until his behaviour changes or he fucks off.

I genuinely do not know what it would take for him to sell ( not completely his decision I know )
But we can’t go on the way things are
But takes overs and even investment, takes a while
And we need something to change a bit quicker than that
This squad will struggle, let alone four competitions

The worst thing is he genuinely thinks he has done a great job.

He's such a cunt he really is. Made worse by the fact he's clueless about football. He probably thinks that replacing Son with Tel and Odobert is fine and sufficient for the season. He probably thinks Sarr can do a job at number 10.

We need a remix of the Judas song for :levylol:

Jamming Jay Z GIF

He is a controlling little cvnt so the only way is if Lewis tells him to.
He makes a deal shakes hands then changes the terms multiple reports of this not just SAF or the Lloris deal.
I find it difficult to work out why a considerable minority actually like his stewardship .
Perhaps they just like shiny things
