They’d had plenty of time to assess his performance.

If they’d wanted to make an impact and Levy was holding them back as they’ve intimated, they could have fired him early in the summer and made a bigger splash in the transfer window.

I’d believe the rhetoric they’re currently peddling if that were the case!
I don't think Vinnie was in place until after the Jan window, so the summer would have been the first time they got a good look at him.

Who knows, but they sacked him, and I am greatful for that.

Until we get some windows, it's all guess work as to what they are going to do.

Just have to wait and see.

It's not entirely guess work when we have around 50 previous transfer windows by which to judge them

It can't be underestimated how much we miss Daniel

Sure we had some tough times under his stewardship, but at least we had each other , the warmth of Daniel's bosom to comfort and nourish us during the lean times

What do we have now ? Vinai leaves me cold , he isn't father figure material , that's what this fanbase is missing

The steadying influence of a father figure , I fear things are only going to get worse with time

Surely Frank was Levy's man?

Based on the events, and the hiring of Vinai, I'm pretty sure it was the case that Levy was pushed out of things all summer and it's more than likely that keeping him until the end of the window was more of a tactical move for presentation reasons.

People will make their own narratives, but there's no way that the decision by the Lewis wasn't a long time premeditated, and there's also no way you'd let someone make a bunch of big decisions like that if you were planning on ousting them

Not so sure…: I’m sure they were more involved in decisions over the summer and Levy had less ownership, but I do think it was a swift exit and took Levy and others by surprise. Who knows

It might have taken Levy by surprise, but there's no way you oust someone with a near billion pound stake in a company that has worked for it for 30 years without spending months with lawyers etc

Agree with that. Must have been a discrete inner circle privy to that though and probably impacted our transfer strategy (which again was likely secondary again)

I can imagine Vinai was the first hint, and tbh I can full imagine him being 'in the know' as it would have massively impacted his role.

TBH it could have been known to Levy that he was taking a back seat, and it's not exactly something that he was against (as he's mentioned over the years) but probably didn't realise how much.

There's a scene on something, and I can't remember what, where there's a person in an office and someone comes in and they are like "can you close the door" and they do it, and they go "no, from the other side" or something like that - which summarises how it probably went down
(not the outtake of Michael Scott to Toby, but a meaner character... could be on the office US like Cathy Bates' character, but it's bothering me that I can't remember fully)

Yeah I agree with you here. I do find Romero signing his new contract the strangest aspect of the summer. Sure, he seems thick as pig shit and that is probably the reason he signed on with us, but as a career move it was bizarre. He could have refused to sign the new contract and left this summer, after possibly winning the world cup and gone to a big team in Spain on mega money.

They must have promised him something. Or he really is a bit thick.

I'm sure it has been said that the appointment of Frank was signed of by them too (via Vinay I would think). Regarding that, we dont know how they will be with managers. Trigger happy like Levy, give them more time, or leave it to gooner Vinay to decide. I suspect they will just let him get on with it.

When all the news leaked out in June on LWOS and Charrington was appointed back in March, so it had surely been in the works since the start of the year. Maybe the club was a Christmas present by Joe Lewis to the kids last year, who knows!?!?
