What you're failing to grasp, either through ignorance or naivety, is that the football club has been used as a vehicle to facilitate all of these non footballing events, rather than the events being used to facilitate a top tier, competitive football team, as we were falsely promised. It is not the events that is the problem but the football decisions on transfers that are holding us back. Both Levy & Ange were involved for the last 2 years and have both gone. Lange has been here 2 years but the problem predates that. It will take longer for those presently in charge to improve the situation. What I do not understand is how the likes of Bournemouth on crowds of 11000 can compete with us and teams like them attract players and Managers that perform better than the ones we buy normally on higher wages and transfer fees. We bought Solanke & Bissouma from them because they performed well and they have not performed as well for us. That is more a worry than the events that produce income to allow us to buy players from those teams.
You only have to look at the calibre of player we sign, the player wages we pay, and the overall decline of our squad compared to other comparative clubs that dont hold all these events.
Just look at the league table and look at the state of our squad.
It's staring you in the face.
We are not a football club anymore. We are an entertainment business and football is just one part. A subsidiary. The necessary anchor tenant that the other stuff needs to feed off.
