A well-written perspective, in my opinion. The only thing I'd add is that it wasn't entirely a failure to invest, but a failure to do so when needed and on the right players. Unlike other problem clubs that overstretched themselves, we have fallen apart because we felt we could do it all entirely on the safe.
...and both were PUNISHED with multiple relegations....

I genuinely don't remember this at all.
I'm guessing it was meant ironically because we had just won a trophy.
