Ex-Spurs Player Eric Dier

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sort of with you....but I'm am nowhere near convinced he has tried as hard as say Emerson Royal to improve aspects of his game. In fact I think he made an elective choice to stop engaging oponents directly because he risked being obviously humiliated. I think he started after being humiliated by Paul Pogba....its a kind of cowardice. However successful or not Emerson tried to improve on his weaknesses
He never had to work hard... he never had competition in the first place.... thats how bad it was and will be in our backline.

Guy is the best we have at CCB and he seems a decent chap but to be honest he isn’t even remotely of the standard we need. That isn’t his fault he gives everything it’s the club for not upgrading, he would make decent competition on the bench or a lower prem team.

We shouldnt hate players just because they aren’t quite the level, not their fault, the club needs to scout and invest.
Spot on.

The stats say Dier makes a fairly high number of errors which lead to goals. He may be stubborn about what he believes is the proper approach to playing the position. But it also might be that he is losing quickness and compensates by laying off and reducing angles. Since managers have praised him in the past it is really puzzling as to why he often seems to lose the plot at the worst possible moment. I would hope if he gets another contract it would not be for a long term, but Spurs being Spurs he'll probably outlast at least two more managers.

this is true. unfortunately when you see the same incompetent faces, let us down, over and over and over again, you do build up a serious dislike.

the problem is you had fans still singing for dele years after it was obvious he was a complete turd. its the same with dier, you get fans singing i love eric dier, eric dier loves me...what do you think baldy is gonna think after hearing that? hes going to think 'lovely, keep this big cheap oaf about as the fans love him'

people throw shit at madrid fans and call them extreme for throwing shit at underperforming players cars on the way out of the ground etc...but who are the kings of football as a result? you got madrid fans giving bale shit while spurs fans are singing about loving eric fucking dier LOL. no wonder we are where we are and they are where they are.

its stereotypical for the sort of person they are.
No, we are just fed up of reading ignorant crap posted by life's failures and self appointed internet "experts" who have achieved absolutely fuck all in their insignificant lives, criticising people who have skills and abilities that those tossers cannot comprehend, mouthing off because "the accused" fails to be the finest example of human perfection.

He’s not very good. Sorry, my bad .. I’m not a professional footballer and thus my opinion is worthless, nobody on here should criticise anybody because we’re all fools and couldn’t possibly comprehend the intricacies of kicking a ball around unless we had the experiences of Eric Dier.*

*Those experiences mostly being watching attackers score with a slightly distant look in his eyes, and making on average 0.75 tackles a season.

Show me one post where I said Winks was a great player.
There's a massive difference between saying that a professional footballer does not deserve the insults, approbation and abuse that they get from on line "experts" and them being declared greats.
And that's my issue with posters as bad as you and others that I have challenged over this pathetic attitude - your polarisation of everything to underline you ignorant bias.
You've stated your opinion publicly - so from that point onwards all you can do is heap more derision on the players by way of confirmation bias.
People like you are so myopic that you even think that your polarised insults and condemnation shows you to be "better" supporters.

It's not me that's the problem, it's the unconstrained hatred and toxicity of people like you that wrecks discussion and balanced opinion.

Let’s be honest, Dier, along with quite a few other players, should have been shown the door a long time ago. If what we’re hearing is true & the Club are going to offer him a new contract, that sums up precisely what is fundamentally wrong with the club & why we keep finding ourselves in the same situation year after year.

The problem isn’t Dier himself. He is a £1.5m utility player. He has been good value. The problem is that we have not signed someone better than him for about 8 years.

Every top club has players of his level rounding out the squad. How long has Rob Holding been at Woolwich? Joe Gomez at Liverpool? The problem is that we have failed to sign anyone better than him. A player of his level should be a squad player not a key starter. His role in the squad reflects our abysmal transfer business over the last few years.

The speed, effort and skill required at elite level is beyond the comprehension of most people

Have you ever played any sport against someone who operates at a professional level?

I have at semi professional level and everything is a blur, before you can comprehend what has happened everything has moved on beyond your grasp, or ability to influence the outcome. God alone knows what its like at his level.

You smug (but ignorant) dick

On a peer to peer level, there are better players than Eric Dier, but sadly - not in the current squad at THFC

The people constantly gurning about Dier fail to acknowledge that there are far worse options in the squad already, who are less versatile and were far more expensive purchases in the first place that should be out the door first.

How the fuck has Dav got away with it for so long? What a complete waste of money. Record signing at one point ffs. Shambles.

We have a converted full back as one of our best options at centre back ffs and he's still better than Sessegnon at wing back who is another one that has fucking stunk the place out far more than Dier and offered far less.

Close the forum. No point discussing anything as we can’t grasp the complexities of Eric Dier avoiding tackles. It’s beyond our brains. Never mind the fact some of the best coaches didn’t even play at a high level, we CANT COMPREHEND IT.

If only I could gaze in to the mind of an incredibly mediocre centre back.

This opinion usually comes from the stupidest people. So we cant say something tastes shit because we arent professional chefs. We cant say what music sounds shit because we arent professional musicians. Such a stupid take.

While Dier is obviously shit, it is very true that our recruitment has failed and also levy has a bad habit of holding on to shit for too long.

Great fucking post. Probably the best I’ve read here in ages.

No one is saying anything of the sort.
The point isn’t telling great music from shit.
The point is being able to blindly tell the difference between the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic.

If they give Dier a new contract, it will tell us far more about how ambitious this club is than who they choose as our next manager.

He’s had his time. Good luck to him. Go and get one last contract at Everton or Fulham.

But we need to move him on.

And Sanchez. And Sessegnon.
