Any evidence for this?

The whole Jose didn't want him thing. Bale running at half pace and showing his class when he wants to. A big name, but a washed-up name, coming in and getting headlines every day about "why doesn't he play" and so on.

I am not saying Bale is shit, he clearly has the class we all wish we had. I just don't think he is a good influence. He hasn't shown a desire for the game since his first couple of years at Real. I don't want a luxury player on 100K+ a week when we could put some money towards a younger, fresher threat.

I think Mourinho didn't motivate him well.

The Athletic reported that Jose used to openly complain to staff that he wished we had bought another CB instead of paying Bale's wages. Maybe Bale picked up on those sentiments.
He is a class player, but I agree with you we need to buy another RW soon regardless. I would loan Bale for another year, and also try and buy Buendia.

I don't see the point of him, I just don't. Yes, he has won us some points, but I don't see him fitting in a side that wants to play aggressive, pressing ball, which many of the coaches we are after play.

One of the classiest players I have had the chance to see play, but meh I just see money that can be spent elsewhere.

Yes to Buendia and for me Sarr from Watford. They would equal Bales wages combined and produce more for the team. The fees would be the issue.

Considering we are very unlikely to loan Vinicius again, could we not use Bale as a back up CF and a back up RW? Also as I said off the bench his quality may be crucial when we're chasing games.
I think as long as he's motivated and wants it, and the new manager wants him, he should be loaned for another year.

Not sure about Sarr from Watford. A lot of hype about him, but his stats aren't fantastic.

I am having trouble finding advanced stats from the championship, but he has 13 goals and 4 assists this year. He is 23 and has what I feel as some really intriguing qualities, including a willingness to run and press.

That’s decent but surely you’d expect a bit better considering it’s the Championship?
Mane at the same age was posting better stats in the PL.
Meanwhile Buendia, only a year older, has 14 goals 16 assists. I reckon we can probably only afford one RW, so would get him.
Although knowing Levy, he’ll probably just stick with Bergwijn.

I see them as different positions. Sarr for me is more of a RW in a 433 and Buendia is the advanced playmaker in the middle.

I don't think things are just cut and dry as you do. Your take on Bamford vs Maupay isn't for me. I watch both Leeds and Brighton. Bamford is a much more complete forward who can finish multiple ways. Maupay struggles when given time, Bamford is much more clinical and links up play rather well.

Sure, stats like goals and assists give you a glimpse into quality, but it doesn't always translate. What was the dude from Brentford last year that everyone thought was the second coming of Mahrez? Benrhama? He had something like 17 goals and 10 assists or something off the top of my head? He can't get into the West Ham team.

I agree Bamford is better than Maupay, but I don’t think he’s that clinical. I’ve seen him miss quite a few sitters this season.
Buendia’s versatility is another reason I’d have him as first choice, could cover in attacking mid too as you say.

I agree stats aren’t everything; I’m not sure if you saw my argument with Sammyspurs about Kane; but I used xG to show Sammy’s criticism of Kane, as not clinical based on shot conversion, was flawed.
But there is a limit to how much we can ignore raw stats.

Well i wished we did too. But as manager its not something you say outloud

Promising young manager who plays the right type of football.

My only concern is that we don't really want a manager who can dominate a semi final only to lose it with the last kick if the game like his team did against us. That is exactly the type of problem Spurs already have which we want to lose.
