I was genuinely dreaming of the FA Cup... (like the naïve 9 year-old twat I still am!) but fuck that eh? We gave it our best, but maybe our best just ain't good enough!

Our best has never quite been good enough.... against Leicester for the League, against Liverpool in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL - thank you very much - and against pretty much every opponent we've faced WHEN IT MATTERS in Semi-Finals/Finals since before some on here were even shaving!

Im sorry but i cant take this as a victory. Yes We played some decent football but we lost.good to see but until we clearout these serial losers were going nowhere.
Theres a losers mentality at the club for too long. We lost 5-4 but its the spurs way??? No thanks. Its still losing. I have no idea what the answer is but players like winks dont have that must win attitude and mentality. Im waiting 35 year for it to change cant see it anytime soon

When it went to 3-3 we simply need to kill the game off, we didn’t we let them back in..... when we claw it back to 4-4 we simply need to finish it off, we didn’t.
Sometimes you can get away with it once, but we have them 4 goals more than they should have got. Absolutely no excuses that ain’t good enoug.
Half this squad sadly need binning and until that happens we won’t see significant progress.

Great game for a neutral I suppose but that’s zero consolation. Genuinely thought we’d win it when we brought it back to 3-2 before half time.

Well the concenus seems to be he was suspect for 3 of the goals tonight and the 2 minimum against the dippers is 5 so yeah that is a lot lately from our captain
Mental game. Could easily have swung our way. Bizarre travesty we were 3-1 down as by far the better team.
Although frustrated we lost, I'm not seething like past defeats as the performance was mainly there.
Wasn't happy with the displays of Bergwijn, Doherty and the god awful Winks.

I think the point you miss (and the point Jose thrives on) is that most fans want to see their team WIN.
Winning playing entertaining football is a pipe dream for most....
The 'neutral' (which is what Sky/BT/BBC tv caters for) LOVE a game like tonight....
if you're on the winning side, you love it too... but if you're on the losing side, you hate it.. regardless of the score.
What Jose tapped into (in his first incarnation as 'The Special One') is that fans want to see their team win, and win trophies... if it comes at the cost of entertainment, most will suck it up, 'cos they're too busy gloating at the losers to notice how cunty they are! Yet the key is, they simply don't lose!
HOWEVER, if they lose, playing that way, they look like Neanderthal cunts who have lost touch with the game...
but if (like tonight) they try and combine the two, by playing vaguely entertaining football, but forgetting how to defend a lead, and yet still lose, they just look like confused idiots who don't understand how winning ugly works!

Lucas misses a sitter early on - but we still go ahead first.
Hojbjerg, who has been as consistent as consistent can be, makes an error which leads to the equaliser which Lloris really should save.
They then score another goal, which again Lloris probably should save.
Then Hojbjerg concedes a penalty, which tbh was quite harsh but we would have been fuming if it wasn't given for us.
We continue to play our game and eventually it got back to 3-3.
Ndombele is blatantly fouled in the build up to their 4th goal. But we come back and make it 4-4.
Winks then absolutely loses his mind and Everton end up scoring the winner, which actually comes moments after Harry Kane misses a brilliant chance to put us ahead.
Crazy game. Highly entertaining. I don't think our attacking structure and play were the cause for any of our goals personally. Which is promising in that regard.
But we need to cut out the mistakes. I doubt Hojbjerg will make 2 more mistakes again this season. Get Aurier, Rodon and Reguilon back in there to make it our strongest defensive back line in front of Lloris and keep Kane fit and we'll be fine.

Sorry guys the mourinho flaw is not controlling the game in midfield with possession. Just went toe to toe or either parks the bus. Sanchez defensively was appalling and lloris had a poor night. Think this game signed, sealed and delivered his departure at end of season. Was a gamble by levy hiring jose that didnt work.
