I originally thought that signing Gareth was a bit of a PR exercise, and when it took him forever to get fit, I thought it was a waste of money. However, he had to be selected to play to show that he can still do a job for us, and we can still see signs of the old magic. It's verging on criminal that he didn't get more game time.

Extend the loan. No brainer. His goal return this season has already exceeded expectations and would be good even if he had played twice the minutes he had. What price do you put on 10-15 goals a season?

Don't forget to add a clause to terminate loan if he gets injured at the euros!!!!

By all accounts Spurs do have a second year first option, subject to terms. If Bale wants to stay at Spurs he can virtually force RM to make those terms acceptable.

RM's very limited options:

A) Bale goes back to playing golf and sitting on the bench - cost to RM $35m and fans raging.

B) RM loan Bale to a club willing to pay 60% of his salary - highly unlikely and Bale can always say no - but if they could manage it then - cost to RM $15m fans happy.

C) RM loan Bale to Spurs for $15m - they still pay his salary - cost to RM $20m fans happy.

So if in the unlikely event a club comes in willing to pay RM $20m for Bale for a year, that still means Bale can say no. That leaves RM either paying Bale $35m to stink up the place or taking Levy's low-ball $15m offer, and who's to say Levy won't go even lower than that ... if Bale refuses to go anywhere but N17 our Daniel will have Florentino by the short hairs.

Let's put it this way: if we got Potter in (as an example) there's zero chance he'd turn down extending the Bale loan. It'd be career suicide as far as the fanbase goes.

A genuine Spurs supporter would be happy to have witnessed a player scoring a hat trick and pleased for the player concerned. You don’t appear pleased. Why is that?.....
Your premise is wrong and thus the rest of your argument irrelevant.

I simply dont see scoring a hat trick against an already relegated sheffield team as evidence of a player's quality.

They were 3 top quality finishes from a quality player. If you can’t see that then you are either trolling or just plain daft

The plan should be that he plays the next 4 matches to see if he can find some consistency and play in a front 3 and we beat better teams.
Once the New Manager is in then he needs to be asked if he wants Bale. If yes then we negotiate with Bale & RM to keep him. If no or he does not impress over the next 4 matches then he goes.
It would be expensive to buy a replacement that is a consistent goal scorer but we need to know if a front 3 of Son, Kane & Bale can work against better teams than Sheff.
