Ex-Spurs Player Gareth Bale

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wouldn't we have to pay Bale at least £200K a week? Some of you actually think this is possible? Putting the transfer fee to one side for minute...

No but we can only dream. what a signing it would be going into a new stadium. But do we go all out on ONE player or do we do what's best for the team (i.e. two players at 60m each or him at a 120m). Just can't see him going less then that

In isolation, yeh, I reckon.... Once we bump Kane, Eriksen and co up in line with him accordingly.... The doubt creeps in...

+ What will still realistically be a huge fee...

Seems out of reach to me.

As much as Id like us to re sign him, I just dont see it.

I think he will feel he still has alot to offer at 28 and will try to win another CL. Realistically, United, City or Munich are the only clubs that could pay the wages and compete on that level outside of Spain.

Of course its possible. We're a very wealthy club. £200k a week amounts to around £30million over 3 years. The cost of 1 Sissoko.
And we have a supra-billionaire owner who could easily dip into one of his Bahamian bank accounts to help fund his dream of seeing Spurs win the title before he says goodbye.
To become big you have to act big.

I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility. His future will no doubt be clearer within the next week.

I don't necessarily think Dier, Dele, Vertonghen etc will be thinking about Bale's wages or what he's earning. I mean he deserves everything he gets, he's one of the best players in the world and been part of a team that will go down in history. They'd be happy to be in his presence.

We can afford Bale - it's just whether or not we'll go through with it.

I think it's personally not going to happen as I think Poch wants to go in a different direction in terms of transfer targets, but I'd love him here, we all would.

As a keen betting man I find betvictor one of the most reliable bookies to gauge the likelihood of sporting events etc....
And their odds on Bale signing for Spurs this Summer have just plummeted to 3/1. Second favourites to Man United at 7/4.
And there's no way Levy's gonna be trumped by those cunts when Bale wants to join Spurs

Box A) Bale + wages

Box B) £150m net spend on 2-3 players in our weakest areas

???

The simple answer is No ... there are many ways to structure a deal ... we could agree a release fee with RM and then negotiate directly with Bale ...

Four year contract on 150k a week (that won't rock the boat at NWHL) that's 31M, add a guaranteed bonus package 20M, add a signing on fee of 9m ... total salary cost to us 60m over four years ... that's 15m a year equivalent to 288k a week, but only a 150k a week in salary ...

There's also the view that he's well worth 300k a week ... how many of our current players have 4 CL winners medals and just scored perhaps the greatest CL Final goal ever? To think Kane and Co would all be banging down DL's door for big pay rises gives them little credit, most of them would probably love the idea of playing with a true world superstar, and to hell with what he's getting paid .....

Still think this is a long shot ... but never say never

Don't we have first refusal?

Yes, I believe we do. And that was a shrewd piece of business by Levy to include it in the terms of the 2013 sale. But only if he makes good on Gareths wishes to come back to WHL.
Lets face it, seeing him sign for Real Madrid was difficult to take at the time. But seeing him in the shirt of another english club would feel like a real punch in the face.

I can’t see us getting Bale back, but we8ve put ourselves in a great position to at least be a possibility.

CL football three years on the bounce, the new stadium, a much stronger team than the one he left, and presumably higher wages being paid in the future.

Personally I think he’s United bound, and maybe coming back to Spurs might seem like a lack of progress in his career to him. With Greasy Ron apparently mentioning leaving Madrid after the match it’s possible that Bale has opened the door to becoming a more pivotal player for them.

He’s now personally won the club two CL trophies. I know Greasy Ron celebrated like it was his personal victory after getting the third in their win over Atletico (or whatever the fuck they’re called these days), but we all know Bale won it for them in extra-time.

Happy for him that there’s no doubt about who won it for them this time. Well...Karius aside.

We were lucky to have him. We’d be even luckier to get him again. Modric will forever have a black mark against his name after the Chelsea stuff, but with Bale it’s hard to begrudge the guy his career choice. He’s just scored what is in all likelihood the greatest goal in CL history...in the final...to win it!

Was going to suggest the very same thing ........ with less detail ..... so well done

His sick record outweighs any possible benefits to our cause. On his day, in his pomp, he is supreme. But he doesn’t play often enough. His repeated calf injuries suggest that he cannot be relied on. There aren’t many better players on their day, but Gareth Bale has always been injury prone. I just can’t see him coming back to us. Even if all the sums added up, I really don’t think he is a risk worth taking at his age & with his injury record. Let him shine one week every 3 or 4 (or for 2 months a season) for a club like Madrid who can just go out & buy a replacement every time their fans boo.

He's world class, he's a winner, and he's Spurs through and though.
Not sure what else we need.
Hope to Christ this happens- or that he stays far far away from the Prem and we only have to ever watch ripping other teams to shreds!

He’s not Spurs through & through mate. He fucked us off for bigger and better things. The rest I agree with & yes, I’d still love him back. His injury rap sheet isn’t at all great, but on his day he is unstoppable.
