Sadly, I agree with a lot of what is posted in this thread. Lineker was my hero as a kid, scoring goals aplenty for England and Spurs. But his moves to disown us over the years, culminating in his celebrations when we drew 2-2 with Chelsea to hand Leicester the title really grate.
The Leicester celebrations, I genuinely don't begrudge him... he is a Leicester fan after all!

It's the rest of it, when Leicester aren't involved, and he still seems to have a grudge against us that I can't understand...

I assume he was happy for Everton the other night?
Or was he punching the air and high-fiving Micah Richards and Alan Shearer in their weird little MOTD dungeon when Palace went 2-0 up???

No, thought not!

I love the fact players support their own teams... it makes them real...
But whilst I don't expect Lineker to favour a team he played for, over a club he grew up supporting... you'd expect some kind of affection!

Ian Wright, Alan Smith, Lee Dixon or Thierry Henry didn't grow up supporting Arse... yet to listen to them, the affection they have for a club they 'merely' played for, far outweighs the opinion some of our ex-players have towards us...

Maybe Wenger really did
sell their souls to the Devil while he was there, in return for success... and they're just not allowed to speak out against the club for the rest of their lives!

He is one of the main protagonists of keeping the ‘Spursy’ tag going by often using the term if we lose.
He doesn’t seem to have any affection for us as one of his former clubs despite us paying his wages for a number of years and giving him his only trophy in English football.
And then if you want to make comments outside of football (as Gary himself often does), he is a typical virtue signalling hypocritical celebrity type who for example slags all and sundry off for being selfish for not wearing a mask inside shops during covid and then is pictured in M & S buying quiche and tofu minus his mask.
I also seem to remember him challenging people to house refugees and saying that he was housing one himself which never materialised either
Not a nice man
Like a lot of wokists, he uses it as a veneer for his own shortcomings.

He's a fake a the chocolate in a packet pound shop disgestive biscuits.

Meet him at a football event, where his people are and he's the friendly cheeky chappy you get on TV.Meet him away from that environment and he can barely contain his contempt for normal people like us. Met him a few times at work,he is a prick!
A Spurs mate was up the west end with his pal and the blokes 9 year old.The 9 year old asked GL for his autograph,he snapped at him No! Anyone that does that to a kid,is scum.
If i ever meet any of you remind me to tell you about hom and the bar where i work.

You are wrong, he did house a refugee and is currently going through the lengthy process of inviting a second refugee to stay at his house

Shelf Bar, by the brick wall, first home game next season - I love it when people have dirt to dish!

There is no way on this planet that he has refugees in his house. He invited one and they lasted a few days apparently. He may have a foreign cleaner but that is all. He is full of hot air

You can hate him all you want but what's the point in talking about something you clearly know nothing about? When you have all the correct information then by all means make a comment. Surely that's fair?

Ok ElTel I know you signed him twice and I commend your loyalty but give it a rest. All joking aside I know what I have read in certain sections of the press which clearly contradicts what you have read. You carry on believing what you see in the trustworthy mainstream media cos they are honest as the day is long…..

You are the one trusting your media sources and choosing to believe what you want based on your dislike of him.

I'm guessing you also hate Sheringham, Berbatov, Bale and other ex players who have left the club and not always had nice things to say/ or like stirring the pot when they are asked questions about Spurs

Nope. None of those go ramming their politics down our throats like Sir Gary whilst allegedly partaking in tax avoidance schemes which results in us paying more. Still you know best

I dislike Sheringham more because his comments about us. I have heard from other people he is a bit of a predator I know that he tried to chat up quite a few girls I knew years back and he was at least 15 years older them. I also heard from people I know that knew his son Charlie that he constantly was cheating on his girlfriends.

When I met him when I went to watch a training session he was very aloof about giving his autograph when other players like Freund and Keller seemed to take an interest.

Personally I have no problem with Lineker. Although I do think the way he went about reporting the story was wrong.

Celebrate Leicester is one thing, but there was no reason to broadcast it on social media. He should have just kept it to himself and his mates.

It's Lineker..... he lives for Social Media these days (he's worse than those Kardashians + Katie Price!!
I genuinely don't begrudge him his right to celebrate his own clubs' success... on whatever platform...

After all, asking Lineker to stay off Social Media, is like asking Jimmy Saville not to get a hardon in a Childrens' ward!!
