There's so much about Sommer that is superior to Glug.I feel like we could bring Brad Friedel back out of retirement and still achieve the same thing
What lets Vic down isn't his lack of ability - it's his lack of humility. Why the fuck should a goalkeeper be constantly getting found out for basic things I don't know - it's been too weak at crosses, to trying to take on attackers with the ball at his feet, to playing hospital passes to defenders being pressed, and the whole time he's shouting at other players and blaming the fans.
Of course Frank reinforcing it hasn't helped. But we could have a big lump in goal that just boots it off into the stands any time the ball comes to his feet and it would be a significant improvement.
Vic is a good shot stopper, Sommer is the World's best. The difference is night and day.
Sommer has big experience, a huge personality and a downright phenomenal mentality. The time his team conceded a penalty and he went to argue with the referee, stood on the penalty spot ad kept turning away from the ref and back, it looked like he was frustrated all the time he was digging up the penalty spot.
He's a footballer who is very comfortable on the ball and doesn't need perfect passbacksor along time on the ball.
Put simply, he is the type of player Spurs should aspire to, not resort to hopeful punts that might develop and might not
