Arc mate you need to normalise the data, forwards scored less once (late 80’s and early 90’s was the dip), Kane’s numbers would of course still be ridiculous in real values, but the nominal value of 20 goals in 1997 was higher than it sounds.
Also I think the 4-4-2 back then meant strikers had lower personal numbers
though tbf Kluivert really wasn’t that grand...

Kluivert’s best seasons came in early 2000s when he was at Barca - he even played 48 games in 2001 and 50 games in 2002!
Same for Bergkamp and early 90s at Ajax - 40+ games / season
For comparison - Kane has averaged 40 games last 4 full seasons
