Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Levy in many ways is a dick really, making an verbal agreement that he doesn’t intend to keep.

In many ways it’s understandable why Eriksen never renewed, he knew he wasn’t going to leave unless he ran down his contract because of how Levy is.
I don't get the sympathy people have for players that want to get out of their contracts early.
It's really simple - don't sign contracts you don't intend to honour.

A verbal 'gentleman's agreement' may be something people expect to be kept to - but signing a physical contract ensuring you earn millions of pounds before bonuses aren't something people are expect to respect?

Weird. Ask for a 2-3 year contract rather than a 5-6 year one when the time comes.

I honestly think the Mou sacking has more to do with this than we'd all like to admit.
I suspect the same. I think he believed in Mourinho, believed that he was good for him on a personal level and got the hump when he was fired. What he doesn't believe in is our ambition when it comes to player recruitment, which is where Discount Dan comes in.

Agreed, not only will it be virtually impossible to bring in someone who could 1:1 replace him, I feel bad for whoever we do bring in because they will only ever be compared against Kane.

However much money we would get would be better spent spread across a number of players, not dropping a huge amount on one player. We'll need to figure out how to make up the goals and other playmaking he provides across multiple players, not just from one person.
I had an attempt at this, and someone quipped it looked like a Villa team:

The one thing in all of this that I’m pretty certain of, is that Kane is obsessed with breaking / setting records. If we made him see out his contract then he really doesn’t strike me as the sort of sulking/down tools kind of bloke. He will still be hell bent on setting new records domestically and internationally. So I say keep him & Levy simply has to show some fucking balls in the transfer market. If he does, Harry can still win silverware and cement his status as an all time great here.
If not, he has 3 years left on his contract and can go for free in 3 years time having broken Shearers record, Jimmy G’s record & go win some trophies then

Did Not play the majority of the quarter final and was out of the semi final for the Champions league. Anyhow i'm not saying we should sell him as I will be gutted when he does go, but he along with everyone else who played in them finals are to blame for us not having any silver wear of late.
Not gonna deny he was a bit poor at times but it happens. He's done so so much for the club

People really think he wants to go now because we don't have Mourinho?!

He hardly left him a glowing parting message when Mourinho was sacked. He basically said that it was nice working with you, boss. And that was about it. Now compare it to how he was when Poch left, it's night and day.

I remember Fulham being ridiculed by some when i was a kid, because thats what Alan Mullery did.Joined us, won a bit of silver and went back to his boyhood club.
is that what we've become? Naah,i'm with Goat,if he goes ,so be it.but stay gone.
It rarely works out too great when ex players come back anyway.Never the same.
Is that what we've become.

This is a legitimate position and it does mot mean we don't love Kane. He has a share in our under achievements. A header missed at 1-1 with Liverpool a header wide when 1 up at Fulham. Three clear chances fluffed against Newcastle. Anonymous against Woolwich I could go on. I love Kane we have used him very poorly but he is culpable too especially in his insistence in rushing back post injury.Love kane loved Waddle Gascoigne Klinsmann I love spurs more. I'm here after Kane Levy whoever...I'm here till I die
Yeah royyyyyyyyyyy

What a total mystery of a career.

Soldado and Lamela are both central casting archetypes of dumb transfer moves, but yeah, Paulinho looked like the second coming of Steven Gerrard at the Confederations Cup that summer.

He was good that random year he went to Barca in a Chinese money laundering scheme too.
Some players just don't fit in a particular country/league. But it sure was baffling seeing him rock up at Barcelona and actually be good.

Kane is not going to turn in to some bum when he hits 30, he will still be playing at the top for years to come. I have no doubt that if a team wants him enough they will pay the required cost whether that be City or whoever. Levy is a glorified accountant at the end of the day, his eyes will light up when he see's the numbers.

Gabriel Jesus would be an utter donkey here and under the circumstances would be the most hated footballer on planet earth.

It's a terrible idea and Jesus and his agent will know it.

It's a real problem that it is a cast-iron guarantee that whoever is the identified "Kane replacement" will be galactically, Torres-at-Chelsea horrendous next season. Striker is a really hard position to get right.
To win the league we need a fucking miracle. Buying a guy called Jesus might just be our best chance.

Yeah it just annoys me how everyone says he needs to move to win trophies, yet he has been anonymous in 2 finals, if he wasn't he could already have 2 trophies to his name!
I don't think any one player in world football could've led Spurs to victory against that City team in the LC (as an example). It's understandable that he would want players around him who could at least make it doable.

I think it's entirely fair and correct to say that he hasn't been at his best in the few important cup games in which he's been healthy enough to actually play at his best. But depending on one player to turn up, do everything and play the game of their lives to win a trophy is simply a losing strategy (for him and Spurs) because it's so unlikely that his best game is going to coincide with the date of a final (sure, he can influence that mentally but only to a point).

I honestly don’t see how anyone who follows football seriously can be this naive.

Sorry but it’s like believing in Father Christmas.

(He doesn’t exist btw).

I don't think they had some intimate personal connection necessarily. But Mourinho told Kane he should be a Messi/Ronaldo level player, built the team around him, and was single-mindedly focused on winning trophies, I think Kane bought into the Mourinho aura and the idea that he was brought on to take the club to the next step.

And then he's sacked a week before a Wembley final and replaced by a 29 year old youth coach. It was a total betrayal of what he had been told the Mourinho appointment was about, and made clear for the millionth time that his club doesn't give a shit about winning things.

I don't think Kane hated Mourinho's football the way we did. Why should he? He was in blistering form at the center of everything.

We cant get a like for like replacement, we will just need to change the way we play and if Kane goes we must do all we can to keep son, if we lose them both we are proper fucked

I may sound like I'm off my meds here, but I'm quite calm about this aspect as well.

I have been feeling for a long time now that we need a complete overhaul, and this might mean a couple seasons of mediocrity and no Europe. An overhaul was never going to happen on the backs of Sissoko, Winks, Dier, and other lagging performer sales, it was only going to come from bigger players. Not only that but with players like Kane and Son so integral to our team, all transfers are essentially viewed at how they fit into our existing system.

I'm not saying it is good, going to be fun, or easy for us to manage through but sales of Son and Kane would allow us to be able to truly overhaul the team and our entire style of play.
