Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Kane is our best all round player

I'd disagree to an extent.

Kane is a much better long passer than Son, has better hold up play, and perhaps has better vision but Son can individually beat opposing teams/defenders with his pace, dribbling etc. - a trait which Kane unfortunately does not have.

Son has also become a better and more efficient goal scorer than Kane. He isn't as service reliant and can better get into space/positions than Kane using his pace/quickness and movement. Don't get me wrong, Kane is still a very good goalscorer but I rarely see him score when he has ball to feet and there's an opposing defender in front of him - his shots usually get blocked with little to no threat. Son on the other hand, regularly scores on 1v1, 2v1, or even 3v1 type of situations.

Separately, even if Kane was a better 'all around player,' being an 'all around' player does not equate to being more dangerous to opposing teams and more effective or impactful to their own team. Rooney was a better passer and all around player than Ronaldo but no opposing defender/team in their right mind would want to face Ronaldo over Rooney.

There's a reason why Son has won our POTY in 3 of the last 4 seasons - we simply don't function well without him because of his importance to our tactical gameplan, particularly on the counter. Take Son out, and we're not remotely the same team.

me too, but if Kane turns up, the golden boot is his. He's a better scorer than Son and he's got the pens on his side.
Definitely. If Conte is planning to have Kane going back to a true 9 with a new 10 brought in (think he did say something along those lines in the past?) then Kane will win it outright.

But Dare, dream and do right? Winning a trophy next season with joint GB would be brilliant though!

It was expected. Where else is he going to go? If there was another legit offer on the table, I still think he’d be on his way out. We are his best option whether he likes it or not

Why does it always get into a pissing contest about who is the best?

We are blessed to have them both, who gives a shit about who's better than who?
Yep, it's strange.

It's not as if they are two players who play the same position, and are competing against one another for a starting XI spot.

They play different positions, are first two names on the team sheet, and most of all, their games (Son's runs, pace, finishing/Kane's ability to drop deep, vision, passing) complement one another perfectly...arguably the best in the sport.

Over the last few seasons, Son has got:

More non pen goals than Kane.

More assists than Kane.

Better goals above xG than Kane.

Higher shot conversion rate than Kane.

More Spurs POTY awards than Kane.

Won the golden boot without any taking penalties.

But yes, Kane is a better scorer/player than Son
