Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That guy is a strange one, he makes it his mission to outwardly disrespect Kane and Poch at every opportunity he gets, it's almost as if he wants to be different.

Garbage.

Disrespect Pochettino, who has won what?

On Kane, it's simple but choose as you wish. Not in both Ronaldos, Messi or arguably Mbappe level, which is produce at the very moments of greatest beed in the biggest games.

Deary me.

Funny that because you'd happily put Haaland and Henry on the same level as Kane in that case.

Also those players played for much better teams than Spurs...that might have something to do with it...

Rubbish.

Yhe very best find a way,so Haaland needs to step-up in the finals, to cement his place, or he will sit with Kane in that group below the elite.

If your definition of elite is players have to turn up in the finals that is fair but it does put Kane, Haaland and Henry well below Steven Gerrard who is a player that really did show up in finals.

I am specifically talking strikers.

Nobody but nobody puts Henry in the same bracket as both Ronaldos or Messi, pretty much for one reason.

As yet Haaland, prolific that he is, is not seen in the same bracket as Messi or both Ronaldos I that pantheon of the greatest strikers. He has time however.

Kane is phenomenal but he is not in tbat small elite bracket of strikers/attacking players,is all I have ever said, and mostly because he does not produce in a ratio that you could apply favourably to make the argument.

Messi is for me the best player of all time. He is the only player I have ever seen who is 10/10 at basically everything, his passing is better than Modric or Xavi, he can play deep and run a game against anyone, he creates more than De Bruyne ever could, he can dribble better than Hazard and his finishing is Kane/Haaland level wgile Ronaldo is a top 5/10 player of all time who redefined the wing forward role and was a monster.

Kane is incredible but the Messi, Maradona, Ronaldo level is a different level to him. In my view with Messi and Ronaldo basically at retirement there isn’t a player in the world remotely at their peak levels. Kane, Yamal, Mbappe and Haaland are great players and Mbappe does have the bonus of turning up in a final but they are all a level below the prior mentioned.

He’s shit at free kicks.

But that’s about it.

Haaland may yet creep up there, and we can't assess Yamal as yet. Doing everything Messi did at his age in a lesser team, so watch this space.

I saw Maradona and much as my favourite player thus far has been the Beazilian Ronaldo, I think Maradona was the best player I have seen. Maybe it was his brutishness, allied to balletic poise and sheer mastery.

I'd have thought with just 47 goals needed, he'd come back after a couple of years.

Even at 32, he's got the ability and then some. He was never about pace.

I was definitely of this opinion until I went to the Munich friendly in the summer. It is a great city and everywhere you look is about the football club. Inside the stadium bowl they really are treated like heroes, the atmosphere is so loud and that was just for a friendly. There is this air of arrogance and confidence that they are the best. But as an opponent it was horrible. They are like Liverpool and Man Utd wrapped into one. It was sickening actually but as a player you could see how it would be pretty infectious.

I did have a joke with the workers in the club shop when they were printing Kane name on my kids shirt that they better enjoy it now as it's the last season they will be doing it because he would be coming back to Spurs! They love him and think he will be there for ages. Good banter with ze Germans though as usual.

Of course they're arrogant about being the best. It really is a tinpot league.

Not a criticism of Kane though. Like Messi he would do great regardless of the opposition.

Unless in a game that actually matters. Unlike Messi or any of the greats.

So he's not in the bracket of some of the greatest players to ever play the sport, brilliant.

Meanwhile Didier Drogba is in that bracket though because he always scored in finals and became clutch at key moments...

This is how backwards the logic is. :porrohands:

Kane wasn't close to being fully fit for the CL final against Liverpool. He didn't pick himself. The manager picked him out of loyalty.

For England, in the final against Italy, it's not on Harry that after going 1 up that England suddenly decided to sit back. We created nothing for him that game because Southgate had mentally drilled into his team that once ahead you shut up shop. Again not Harry's fault.

Plain silly.

Drogba, super striker but not prolific, so not top drawer. See others.

But in a big game, Drogba every single time over Kane. Same as Bale. Not prolific but arguably ahead of Kane, because he just delivered for club and country, whem it mattered most, and didn't need service in order to do so. And for country, played with far lesser players.

The metric is high-scoring on a routine basis, of which Kane has few equal, and s bring when it matters the very most. Kane falls.

If you take your lens off it's not difficult and neither am I belittling Kane. Just placing his accomplishments and quality in perspective.

Your perspective is that he's not the same level as Messi and Ronaldo, I mean like everyone knew this already, I mean you'd be hard pressed to find any player on that level in the past 30 years or so.

But then your metric of a 'top player' is skewed because as I said Henry and Haaland aren't top players going by your logic so using the argument of 'not scoring when it matters' is a bt silly seeing as players who some people see as better than he was also haven't scored in big matches.

Isak scored in a final last year, are we saying he's a top player now and putting him above Kane? Are you saying that Isak is more of a top player than Henry and Haaland?

We disagree.

Not an issue.
