Ex-Spurs Player Harry Winks

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let's be clear social media is a choice you are not obliged to read it be part of it or consume it . This is a choice. I know this from a very personal angle. My partner is in a high profile profession and dose not play the game you seem to feel is some how mandatory.

I think you give people way too much power. A complete stranger calling Harry Winks or Kane names on line has zero power unless you let it. Id have more sympathy for your position regards behaviour in the stadium. My partner has never read a review or any negative press she knows opinions are like ass holes everyone has them and they all stink. I'm a little fearful for how well you are preparing your son for what lies ahead if I am honest.

Also I'd resist the everything was better in the past regards support narrative too. The 'good old days' of support were characterised by monkey chants bullets in the post rampant homophobia and throwing urine filled carrier bags. I was there. You could argue some of that physical toxicity has gone virtual. Which for the players may actually be LESS harmful
Yes it’s one thing slagging off our players online or in a pub but never during a game unless of course you booed Tanguy for his petulant slow walk off

Makes me think twice about training my kid so he can wear our badge in about 15 years. Sucks knowing that if we succeed, if he works hard on his football on a daily basis for the next 1.5 decades, having already put in great effort for a few years now, and he becomes a one-in-ten-million quality player, even if he'd love the club, even if he'd been raised in and gone through the ranks of the club, "supporters" would find any opportunity to piss on him from every angle unless he'd play perfectly in every game (quite possibly even then). Modern day supporters, not all, but far too many, are quite simply scum.
Maybe whilst you're teaching him all this, you should teach him that people aren't nice and it's best to just ignore them.
Also teach him that tens of thousands of the finest sterling, each and every single week could be used to wipe the tears from his eyes if he doesn't cope with a middle aged gammon screaming abuse from the top tier of a stadium at him.

Ah.

Ive never refered to Winks as an abusive name. But I don't like that he shies away from tackles, that he apparantly isn't great at creating cohesion in the dressing room, and frankly isn't good enough to be in our starting 11 if we were invested in as we should be with our finances.

I won't back down from any of that.
Doesn't create cohesion in the changing room?

Jesus, you really swallow all this bullshit, don't you?
If we had sheikh or a thieving oligarch we could buy what we want, but we don't, so we buy what the club says the budget is. Deal with it or support one of the moneybags clubs.

You are either Spurs or your not. If you are then back the players that wear the shirt.

Or log on to Blue Moon and pedal your patronising crap there.

Winks has been going all out in his defending since Conte arrived. I am happy with his effort and the results so far.
Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and agree that he’s making an effort unlike Tanguy but he’s still nowhere near good enough imv and never will be

Having said that if Conte really believes that he’s good enough for our squad and not just a stopgap until we get someone decent then fair enough

I’ll be amazed if he’s still here at the end of the Summer

Time will tell

No. He isn't "fucking shit as in completely useless as a footballer" for a club that wants to be top 4 either. You may think that he is not quite at the required level, that could be reasonable. But the truth of the matter is that he has in fact been part of a team that has come second in the Champions League and that has achieved a top 4 position in the Premier League, as a literally useful part of the squad.
How people could disagree with this is one of TFC's great mysteries! :contefacepalm2:

First half he was good, 2nd half not so good.
Not sure if that was his fault or Conte not seeming to have an answer to Brighton's improvement.
The next few games will decide if he has a long term future at THFC.

We have (very) limited homegrown options. Unless Parataci is looking at Championship players or going to promote Harvey White, I suspect that he could be part of the squad.

It's not as if we haven't been here with Tiddly plenty of times before. With Bentacur playing like cool hand Luke I think he will struggle for game time in front of Skippy and PEH also.

On the other hand Conte will know how to get the most out of him thankfully which if he is deemed as surplus this summer should bump his value up nicely. I no longer walk into the bathroom to quietly grip the towel rack when I see him in the starting lineup. If anybody knows how to get the most out of him it is Antonio.

Well said sir. Well said.

As someone who criticised him a lot after his form in the last two years, I have to praise him for the way he's played since Conte has come in. He's been controlled in possession, has often broke the lines with incisive passing and worked his socks off on the defensive side.

Those that are unable to acknowledge his or Diers form since Contes arrival have decided he is the whipping boy regardless of how he plays.
