We do need to sort out our homegrown contingent numbers if we are going to replace him from outside the league. I don’t want to be forced to keep Winks as a squad player because all of our non-HG slots are filled (yet fear we will).
Wasting a non-homegrown slot on a mediocre backup keeper who never plays is piss-poor roster management.
He gets pushed out of challenges SO easily.
I mean if Winks was at Crystal Palace or Norwich or Watford, he wouldn't stand out. If he were in the championship, he'd be a decent player, maybe good, but not the first name on the teamsheet. Says it all really. He's an ok midfielder for a team fighting relegation or a good championship team.I'm not saying he needs a transfer to another club because I want him gone, which I do, but the fans have had enough. It's bad for everybody.

I really like Bryan Gil and wish more of our squad had his attitude.
Physically weak I mean.I really like Bryan Gil and wish more of our squad had his attitude.
Went straight into Valencia’s first 11 (as a forward in a 3-5-2) going 90 in an important home La Liga match.

Gil's a kid. He'll get stronger. And isn't a player who's gonna have to rely on robust tackling.
Winks is fully grown pushover of a CM. Busy, tidy a lot of the time, really intelligent a maddeningly occasional amount of the time, but a nothing presence anytime the going gets tough.
I doubt that. He would struggle to start in the Championship.I mean if Winks was at Crystal Palace or Norwich or Watford, he wouldn't stand out. I think he is afraid to get hit by the ball , always shrink when the ball is kick towered him ..Shockingly bad last night.
There was one piece of play that stuck in my mind. Southampton were attacking about 5 - 10yrds outside our box. Winks was close to the man with the ball, and looked like he was about to put the block in, then he inexcusably deliberately wandered away from him and left a gaping big hole for the Southampton player to stroll through. Even Disaster Dave dug him out after that one.
Boiled my piss.
He’s a cowardly incompetent little ratI think he is afraid to get hit by the ball , always shrink when the ball is kick towered him ..
how a defender that gets millions to block the ball is afraid an turn away from it ??
I wouldn't mind him missing chances because it means he was at least attempting to get involved.Thank god it wasn't Winks who missed that Reggie chance or that Kane header.
The internet would explode!!

He’s obviously a professional. I imagine he trains well and is really committed to the team and improving. It's gonna annoy some people but due to our shit recruitment there's a reason why he's still starting games for us, he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad but when you spend the best part of £100m on absolute wasters who have been kicked out the club this is what you get.
