Big means £70m+ fees, which yes, we obviously won’t be spending.

That doesn’t mean we can’t sign good players, we just need to be bolder in signing young talents. We had opportunities to sign Maddison, De Jong, Grealish etc and let them slip away. We need to buy these players a year before their value skyrockets, not a year after.

Poch was seemingly very picky about signings and combined with Levy’s penny pinching it ended up a disaster the last two years. For Mou to succeed here him and Levy have to make more forceful decisions on transfers when younger talents emerge. If we think they have the quality then buy them ASAP before someone else does. Just think where we could have been if we’d signed Maddison or Grealish a year ago...

Maddison and Grealish wouldn’t be the players they are now had they joined us as they wouldn’t have had the game time.

I agree with your broader point, but we tried to sign both De Jong (Ajax didn't want to sell) & Grealish (40m pricetag was banter.... Still is IMO)... The latter wouldn't have elevated us either.
The way I remember Ajax were okay with the fee. But De Jong decided to stay put because he knew that Barca was interested.

We need to use any money we have in January in more defensive players. Good tactic to kill the rumour that Levy will spend recklessly because Jose is Manager.

From what I remember it was always Sporting demanding 70 mil up front with us offering 45 base + bonuses that would take it up to 60.

The Sporting president is also not the most trustworthy of characters. Nabil Bentaleb Nabil Bentaleb can probably tell us more about how he is looked at in Portugal but wasn't it rumored that he let the ultras into the training ground to beat up his players?
They changed président. This one IS less crazier then the other.
This one is basically numbers related. U show the money u get the player lol

Ossie/Ricky....
Dawson/Reid...
Etherington/Davies....
Lo Celso/Fernandez....??

....it's not like we haven't got previous!
:ossie::dawsonlol:

Weird one.

Haven't seen as much of Bruno as I have of Lo Celso, but they seem to fulfil the same role in a team...but do it very differently?

The way Lo Celso simply touches the ball just screams "baller". He's probably not going to be in double figures assists/ goals every year and he can't really use his right foot; much like the Silva's at City...who I'd say he's reasonably comparable with. The way he moves and manipulates the ball is just very special.

Bruno is not as graceful, probably not as press resistent and doesn't feel the football in that magical way. However, he seems more direct and decisive in the final third and has the added bonus of being pretty both footed. More KBD?!?

Same **** different player.
Either we need to operate in a different market and go for the Dele's, Eriksens etc who are on short contracts or at lower league clubs. Or we we need to cut out the low balling.

The only way we're getting Lo Celso or Fernandez is coughing up closer to what they will take than what we're willing to pay.
That might happen, but it ain't 2008 anymore and waiting to the last day before saying "take our offer or else" just ain't gonna work.

Both works for City.

I think it's time for us to evolve; if that means selling Eriksen to make room for both Lo Celso & Fernandes then I'd be happy for us to do so. I do kinda believe that if we were going to, we'd have one something with this current crop by now...
