Transfers Have We Signed Gareth Bale Yet?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Funny I watched him ambling back after he lost a tussle for the ball and just thought...your done mate him and Conte match made in hell.
I agree. I think Bale's mind & focus will be on the World Cup, rather than a long hard physical slog of a season of club football.

Everything we hear suggests Conte wants players who give everything in training day in, day out, and play to his tactical demands. He didn't play Eriksen at Inter until he was fitter & understood Conte's approach. And Eriksen is a naturally fit & intelligent footballer.

If we want an attacking player who offers something different, especially against the park the bus teams, I think we're far more likely to go for the likes of Saint-Maximin, especially if the rumours of a £35m release clause for CL teams is correct.

Yep spot on. I get that Spurs fans will always love him but he is done at Spurs unless Conte inexplicably walked away. They are just the polar opposite of what each need right now.

Bale or Eriksen would be nostalgic, emotional signings... and probably sell a few shirts...

Unless they were both prepared to play & train the Conte way... (and start most games on the bench) I can't see either of them coming back...

Much as my heart would love at least ONE of them to consider it, I can't see it happening.... Not in the real world, anyway!

Well it’s not like Bale doesn’t have a history of sitting on benches. Can’t see him objecting too much to that

No. And we won't. I love Bale, the only player I have a shirt with his number on the back, my favourite player ever, to the extent that I wanted Wales to qualify instead of Ukraine just because of him, but he can't come to Spurs. Conte's training would kill him, and he wasn't known as the best trainer in his peak days, let alone now.

I was really up for it during that first return, but I don’t think he can cope with the demands of Conte. Although Conte has fared very well with older experienced players in previous teams so who knows!

If he wants to still play regularly then I don't see that happening with us. If he just wanted to stay fit for the world cup then he could come back and train with the youth team to stay fit. Could make use of the great facilities and the youth could learn a lot from him. Maybe easier for a keeper but I think Pat Jennings retired from club football but came back and trained with the Spurs reserve team to stay fit for World cup qualifiers a year later.

If Conte wants him, I hope it happens. If not, I hope not.

I think Bale still has a lot to offer, and especially to us with HG/club-trained status. His set pieces and finishing are still unreal.

Leave it to Conte to decide.

Love the man. Probably my second favorite Spurs player behind Dembele over the last 10+ years.

But better to let the past be the past and not try to force a situation for the sake of nostalgia.

Ronaldo to United seemed like a good idea... until it wasn't.

Ronaldo was their top scorer and is nominated for PFA player of the year.

United's problems are rooted in them keeping players long past their sale by dates - Mata, Shaw, De Gea, Fred, Matic, Martial, Pogba - and allowing Rashford to piss off and play dinner lady instead of training.

And that Greenwood kid looked good, what happened to him? eek

Agree on the first two paragraphs. RE 3: Greenwood got accused (quite credibly, according to reports) of rape/abuse (?), and I think is awaiting trial.
