To put this in some perspective.

Julien is a French journalist operating out of London. He doesn't seem to have many connections within French clubs as he is more of a "general" journalist.

To counter point Julien's claim both Portugese RTP (Portugals public broadcasting) and La Voix du Norde are reporting that he is looking to join up with us. La Voix du Norde are a local newspaper in Lille with connections within the club. So their word in particular should carry some weight.

But we should still of course hold of on celebrating until when/if he is announced.

If you look at it objectively: is there a better club than Spurs for Campos to come in and ply his trade at?

Putting aside his close relationship with José, we have the best training ground, best stadium, play in the biggest league (something he hasn't done yet) and have a squad littered with some world class talent (Kane, Son) and young players with high potential (Lo Celso, Gedson, Tanganga, Ndombele).

The missing piece is to identify young and affordable transfer targets in a post-covid-19 market to complete/balance the squad. Something his previous quotes indicate he'd relish.

Surely it's the perfect project for him.
In England, no. Outside of England, probably, depending on his preferences. But considering the relationship with Jose and the the opportunity to take a highly recognized club to another level is probably extremely tempting.

I will find it very amusing when Spurs start buying a bunch of £5-15m players that no one has heard of and half this board goes apoplectic at Levy because we aren't spending enough on transfers even though that is Campos's modus operandi. If he can apply that same logic to larger signings then we'll cooking with gas.

I think Campos will arrive on deadline day. Last-minute Levy special

"Welcome aboard, Luis. IT haven't got any spare desktop PC's but there is an internet cafe not far from here I think. Anyway, the transfer window closes in 12 hours so looks like you'll be thrown in at the deep end to show us what you can do. Hot water for tea or coffee is free but you'll have to label your own milk and teabags. There is a leaving card for Phil from accounts and we also need a defensive midfielder on a free. All the best."

Because a DOF looks further ahead than the January transfer window to get a striker in. Our scouting network has been very hit and miss for a while now.
Quite and let's not forget we're losing John McDermott to the FA this summer so all the better to bring in someone that'll stop us acting like a headless chicken.

One question though: if we get Campos then does Lille become more resistant to us headhunting their players?
