WTF are you talking about. He scored a GOTY type of goal not too long ago then got red carded.(Which he misses 3 fucking games)
He is just a streaky player. When he is on, he is on FIRE!!! unstoppable!!!
But when he is not he is cold. ICE cold.

But all around he gives us near 20 goals and 10 assist per season.

That is fucking class.
And he gets double / treble marked and still managed to get into a couple of good positions. He’s also having to get used to not having Harry in the box, as are Lucas and Dele, so the passing is slower. They’ll pick up over the next few games (until April, and Harry comes back and they have to redo everything again but, you know...)...

That’s just who he is.

Dogshit on his off days and as good as Ronaldo during his purple patches.

Everyone, except you, has known this for years.

To be fair, mention this in this thread during one of said purple patches and the fanboys come swooping in to refuse this notion; saying he should leave, making accusations of racial prejudice from our fanbase and all sorts.

Point being it's far from "everyone"; be it either end of the scale.

Disagree... he didn't really give the ball away and was able to create some chances. It was only his finishing that let him down today.
His movement was very poor and all over the place and it didn't help the team at all, a 3/10 performance at best; he needs to do much, much better v Boro and especially at Watford next week.

His last good game was v Burnley, 5 weeks ago.

Very good player, but agree was below par again today.
Lacking something at the minute, but so are others, eg Dele.

An on form Son puts that one on one chance away, or at least forces the keeper into a save.

Has he had his “purple patch” yet this season? Up until the United match he was having a fairly consistent season contributing but hasn’t gone on that run of games (scoring) like past years.

The chance he had today should’ve been one to kick start a scoring run from him.
He already had one for about the first 3 or 4 months of the season. He was performing well above par during that time, which spawned the whole "Kane vs Son: Battle of the Titans: Who is Spurs' best player?" malarkey. Son had never been as close to overtaking Kane in ability, popularity and importance as he was in that period.

(Though the debates in the wider football fanbase had already started in earnest over the summer due to an unfair, disproportionate amount of blame being put on Kane for the CL final, down to factors mostly outside his control -- not least how abject the entire team was. For the football fan who watches at most three Spurs games a year, it didn't matter that Kane wasn't 100% fit, hadn't played in months, didn't get any clear-cut opportunities, and was still far from the worst player on the pitch: they just saw him not scoring the two solo wonder goals that would've been necessary to win the game and assumed they were seeing a fair representation of Kane. Spurs supporters knew better so it didn't become the same talking point among fans, ditto the dumb "Spurs are better without Kane" meme that popped up a few times in 2019. Wow, I'm going off into the weeds with this side-note but you get the idea..)

3/10? Very harsh, easily a 6. Should have buried that chance though, he's better than that.

Should be deployed up front instead of Moura, and Alli needs to be dropped for Lamela. Lo Celso for the pedestrian Eriksen too. Play Sonny up top and he will bang the goals in, facts.

Yeah whatevs, Clynelish your best mate

and that’s why we need another striker in Kane’s absence. Sonny will score goals here and there but it’s unfair on everyone to expect him to be the main goal scorer without Kane about for such a long period of time. It’s making do, not solving a problem. If anything it creates another one because out wide we lose one of the best attackers in the league in that position.

It really doesn't have anything to do with Kane being in or out of the line-up. Fact is, without Kane, the team performed well enough to get in a position late in the game where Sonny had a wide open look at goal to equalize against Liverpool. Our defense held their end of the bargain by allowing only one goal against a ferocious attack. I don't care who it is - Dele, Sonny, Lucas, Lamela - we should expect our attackers to put open chances away. Sonny doesn't get a free pass - he let us down. That is the difference between being a top 4 team and a mid table team.

honestly I thought the attack looked a lot more free flowing and dangerous throughout the game than when Kane is in the line up playing up top. it seemed like the players had more space to operate. I thought the same when Kane was out last season. Kane isn’t replaceable as the clinical striker he is but I don’t think all is lost without a striker

(it's off to a mediocre start after two straight Kaneless draws to very significantly lesser opposition in the cups so far this season).

You're forgetting that we're also missing Sissoko and Ndombele. It isn't all about Kane.

And... we've played two games without Kane. One (the FA cup draw) was relatively poor yes but we were already in poor form prior to that with a loss to Southampton and tie vs Norwich. So lets not act like our form was quality with Kane in the line up.

I thought the last game against Liverpool was a step in the right direction. We were in a good position to tie or maybe even win the game towards the latter part of the game. We would expect Son and/or Lo Celso to put one (or both) of those chances away.

I'm not going to argue over whether we're better or worse without Kane but I will say is that, when we were able toe establish possession in Liverpools half, we looked pacey, free flowing and dangerous in many instances throughout the game.

We should be taking away positives from our last performance and build on it rather than talking about Kane. We shouldn't talk about him until April. He's injured and it's a reality we've got to deal with.

Son is literally a 50/50 toss if the coin
Back of the net or wide, there is no telling.

The miss v Liverpool was unacceptable on every level and it was the same a couple seasons ago at Anfield in a one on one which would have seen us go 1-1 about 2 minutes into the second d half, giving us the momentum.
That was the Leicester season too, massive points dropped.

When we lose games like the Liverpool one, everyone starts moaning about Levy, Dele, Eriksen, Jose, Poch, Trippier, Dier and in most cases rightly so.

But I’d love to know just how many points Son has cost us down the years with stupid shots or just running wildly into a crowd of players.

Does he have a single assist?

I rate him highly, but you just can’t be as good as you are bad. He has to be reliable in front of goal in these games, not just against Burnley etc
