Ex-Spurs Player Hugo Lloris

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Exactly. Mediocrity is rewarded at Spurs.

But so much easier to take a pop at Hugo, Conte & co for speaking the damn truth.
Hugo fucked up big time when he decided to take a drive after being over the limit...
Yeah but Harry only drinks orgeat cordial and goes to bed at 9pm every night no matter what, after he's indulged on a couple episodes of Cash In The Attic.
I know you're joking... as Cash in the Attic isn't on at 9pm! (Unless you meant MATTY CASH after last weekend?)

Personally, I don't think Hugo was quite the same after his broken arm at Brighton...

But if everyone was SO incensed about the watch, why's it taken 5 years and a book deal for it to come out?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not standing up for Levy, and I'm no businessman, but honestly, I just don't understand how someone SO obsessed with money, CAN'T see that winning a trophy now and again (or even REGULARLY) WILL generate EVEN MORE money...

It's baffling that he can't see that!
The rewarded mediocrity has never made sense for me.

Sounds like a lovely, kind gesture of which I would be very grateful of.

I'm not seeing the problem here. Wish my boss was like that.

I don’t think it’s the watch itself that he’s complaining about.

It was the engraving on the back that said they were finalists. The implication being that regardless of whether they won or lost, it was treated as an achievement

Regarding Levy and the watch thing it seems pretty obvious to me that Levy was set up to do that. And what I mean by that is that the idea was sold to him. Only a very naive person that is controlled by someone else would do something like that. To me it suggests that someone higher-up than Levy is using him like that and for those purposes. And that somebody else is probably pursuing this same narrative right now. In my opinion.

Some higher ups, or some spies within the organization. Somebody who works within the organization but actively works on sabotaging it. Stuff like that happens all the time.

Who's higher up than Levy in the organisation?

Have you seen how short he is...the answer is
everyone GIF

It was an achievement. It was a huge achievement for us to get to that final.

Aye, better if we had won it, but still a high point for the club.

What would we say if we won the Carabao? That it’s shite because it’s not the FA Cup? Win the Europa? Shite because it’s not the CL?

Any club would treat getting to the final as a massive achievement.

Thinking the CL final was done after ONE minute pretty much sums up the loser mentality that surrounded that squad and coaching staff.

In our entire history, we've never got to more semi finals than the decade between 2010-2020. Yet could never get over the line.

Weve seen worse teams get to finals and win things over that exact same period of time. Tactically rubbish in the biggest games and a weak mindset across most of our best players.

Zero goals scored in the three finals between 2015-2019 sums it all up.

Hugo fucked up in that final, yes. But he was still a massive part of the success France had during his tenure. Probably their best keeper ever.

All goalies have a mistake in them, even your Neuers, ter Stegens, Edersons...or Buffon, van der Sar. Strikers miss easy chances every weekend, defenders have 10s of brainfarts a season. But booboos from keeps are more noticeable cause of their direct impact on the scoreline, so they get big stick.

Hugo won us more points & games than the other way round. Had he been at a serious club, with serious owners and proper players, he'd have been a winning Spurs captain...and not just once.

Hugo was never top level, that's why he stayed with us. No elite clubs ever came calling and he never kicked up a fuss to leave. He was happy collecting his wage and trying to win the top 4 cup each year. The truly elite players we had all left as soon as a club that challenges for honours came in for them. He was fortunate to be part of a France team with truly elite players to get that World Cup win, despite him fucking up in the final.

Our captain was as big a part of the "settling for less" mentality that he decries as anyone else.

Agree - couldn’t kick the ball over the half way line. Weak mentally, weak physically

I didn't see him this loud when he's playing for us. Captain.. Lol.

He probably didn't know, but perhaps there was another watch lined up with an engraving of 'UCL Winner' had they won? Jeez. How small time, honestly. Blaming the loss all on that stupid watch and gesture interpreted by these so-called 'leadership group'. Little wonder why Ange has no time for all of them.

I think I've bought nearly every autobiography by ex-players, but will give this one a swerve. I can't say that I have a lot of affection for him, find it hard to forget the drink-driving incident, TBH.
I haven't even read this thread since he left, but was curious to what was said that the journalist brought it up at Ange's presser.
I don't think Lloris was a good captain, and the fact that his contract included a clause that he would always have parity with the highest earner says a lot.
He has a point about the watch thing, but it shouldn't have made a difference to his or the team's performance.

It was an achievement but it should have been acknowledged after the final, not before. No other club would do this. You think Klopp would have been handing out these watches before Dortmund played that CL final against Bayern?

The focus of everyone at the club should have been winning that final, not celebrating winning a semi.
