Manager Igor Tudor

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Because Carrick is saturated in the feel and expectations of UTD. He's part of the furniture there.

Tudor is a complete outsider with no PL experience.

It might be jolly clever and he knows exactly what to do, but it feels risky.

Less risky than the desire to bring in an ancient redknapp tbh .

Considering it's extremely blatant they're after Poch there wasn't much choice for a temp only role. I personally would've taken rose but very slim pickings if you're letting them know it really is just a 4 month only job

I know him from when he managed Gala! Solid appointment, and I could even get behind Tudor for the long run. Solid tactician. This is another one of Don Paratici's recommendations. I didn't even think this was in the realm of possibilities, so pleasantly surprised. LFG!

To get us playing better all he needs to do is keep it simple, simple passing patterns, get them motivated to run, and stop wanking over Woolwich

And we'll be 60 percent better over what we've had since October/November

It's a valid concern.

To understand the unique nature of PL football would be nice, especially considering the fact we'll likely be in a relegation battle.
Valid concern but there weren't really any decent options on the market that fit our other requirements (short term, renowned for short term fixes, non-horiffic football, willing to come).

Personally I'd much prefer the shock treatment of Tudor over more lump it long bollocks under a Dyche or whatever dinosaur some people want wheeled out of retirement (Allardyce lol). And someone like Mason is just too close to home. Meanwhile the talk of people like Alonso, getting Poch early...it's just never happening. Even a good option like Di Zerbi clearly didn't want to come straight from Marseille on a short term gig.

Maybe you're right and the lack of PL experience will prove an issue but I think there are other more important factors than that in this appointment. The main thing is the character and style of the manager imo - after all Frank knew the league inside out and he was utter wank.

No idea how to feel about this. I know very little about him, but it feels risky.

Interim wise he did well at Juve and Lazio. 1.91PPG, which would get us 22 points with 12 games left. He needs to win 4-5 games to get us safe. Palace, Brighton, Everton, Forest and Leeds at home and Wolves away, have to be aiming for them to get points.

Survival is paramount. Then get Poch back in the summer.
If he gets us 22 points from the last twelve games, that's pretty much top four form translated over a season.......

Winning 4-5 games sounds easy but we've only won 7 out of 26 games so far this season.

If he can somehow get a draw from the Woolwich game, then that will set him up nicely.

If we go down hard against Woolwich, then the media will be all over him

Horncastle knows his stuff on Italian football. Not much here but if he shares his wisdom in the next few days it is worth a listen.

Analysis by James Horncastle

Igor Tudor has considerable experience as an interim. He came in at Lazio in March 2024 and qualified for the Europa League. He then replaced Thiago Motta at Juventus last spring and ensured they didn’t miss out on the Champions League.

Juventus kept him on as they underwent structural changes within the club. Damien Comolli, formerly of Tottenham, moved from general manager to chief executive at Juventus and then appointed a new executive team. Tudor was sacked in October. He remained on their books until a contract resolution freed him to pursue other opportunities in the New Year.

Tudor worked with Tottenham’s old co-sporting director Fabio Paratici while assistant to Andrea Pirlo at Juventus in the 2020-21 season. He knows Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from that time. He also worked with Randal Kolo Muani last season. Tudor will bring discipline to Tottenham.

It remains to be seen how this squad fits the 3-4-2-1 he has tended to play since deploying that system at Hellas Verona where he first stood out as a coach.

If this is just to keep the seat warm for Poch, we need to have those papers signed by him as soon as the season ends.

If he’s not willing to commit until after the WC, we cannot be waiting around for him. Even if you think USA don’t make it past group stage (they will), that’s still almost the beginning of July minimum before he could take the reigns. A R32 berth would keep Poch through all of June into July. I doubt we could go any further than R16 but that’s almost mid July before he would be freed up.
Isn't beginning of July when the players usually returns?

I would give chance to Rose as well. With proper clauses that makes his appointment permanent if met.

But ofc they wait for Poch, so hands were tied.
